Roof warranty

We have a 2018 ace29.4, took it in for yearly 22 pt checkup!
Was suggested do a complete re-seal of roof.
Coach was purchased in July of 2018. I think if it’s REALLY necessary, it should be covered under warranty. Any thoughts??

You might call Thor cust serv, but my first thought is that it's less than 1 yr old, so warranty should cover it, unless it's one of the long list of exclusions that is in your paperwork.

The "gotcha" is that the roof sealant is only warranted for 90 days. The real question is: Does your roof really need a full reseal? Buy a tube of lap sealant and get up there yourself and see what the "cracks" look like.

I was up on the roof of my 2017 ACE a month or so ago. The roof its self was in great shape, upon checking all of the caulked areas some needed to be touched up. I keep coach outside all the time so its seen a lot of weather. I would call Thor and get some feed back on roof warranty and suggested maintance.

Literally speaking, everything is under the roof! Unless you're qualified to do it, it pays to have a service tech do an inspection once a year. Make sure it's someone you can trust. Leaks from roof seals don't always show up right off and by the time you discover them, lots of damage has been done...usually a lot more than the cost of an annual inspection.

Unless your coach is brand new, the chances of getting a leak covered under warranty is less than the chance a Dairy Queen will show up in Hell.

As someone that’s had a pretty bad roof leak on a newer coach it’s does make sense to have the roof inspected. To get my roof finally fixed they had to reseal the whole roof. My plan was every other year having it inspected with me doing a reseal myself in between. If I can find a shop that’s time efficient I would pay to do it every year

I’m on my roof AT LEAST every other month and it’s unusual that I don’t have to address some point of sealing. It’s not rocket science. Just clean or remove any cracked or suspect area and apply the appropriate self leveling RV lap sealant. I also carefully inspect all windows and other penetrations and seal those as well. Even still I find occasional leaks. The warranty is for 3 months because with all of the flexing and weathering that’s about all you can reliably count on. Just my opinion, of course, but it comes from hard learned lessons.

Yes, they warn that the roof itself will last, but NOT the seams, joints and penetrations. I don’t think any RV roof, rubber, fiberglass or TPO will go more than 6-12 months without suffering a failure. Especially if it’s stored outside and used once in a while. Just my opinion.

Agreed. The warranty is on the TPO roof material only.
