RV Share

Has anyone use the RV Share? How is it? Has anyone filed any claims on the their RV with it? Is it easy to use? We only used our Class C once this year and was thinking about this for next year but was not sure. Seems legit.

Hello,

we are using RV Share and Outdoorsy to rent out our RV's.
Works pretty good and we had the 3 units we own always on the road.

Go RVing

Didn't buy my coach to rent it out. I wouldn't like the idea of my coach always being used/abused by a newbie.

Yeah this topic pops up now and then on here and the majority of people feel as you do. There are a few people (as the examples above show) do rent them out to help with the cost of the RV. Economically it can work out, but yes you also have to consider the extra maintenance required.

Renting out my RV would be about like renting out my underwear...
Who would want it?
More importantly: would I want to be cleaning up after somebody else messes it up?

There's a couple videos on GooberTube also of a bunk of college drunks stuck in the sand on a beach with a rental RV as the salt water crashes underneath...they think it's the funniest and coolest thing ever. There's got to be a better way to make money than renting an eggshell RV...unless you have a dozen of them and they are basic, bulletproof units as with the FEMA Trailers after Katrina.

I'm a NO to renting mine for a couple reasons. 1-Abuse whether because of an unskilled RVer or someone that doesn't care or think, 2-I like to go "spur of the moment and 3-I live in NC and might need to live in it or evacuate @ hurricane.

You're right!! I consider mine as an emergency "bug out" option. Stays full of fuel, water and food. Always ready for a 5 minute evacuation for any reason. Lots of RV's should be heading eastward from coasts of NC and VA in the next 2 days...if they are smart.

Did you mean to say "Westward"?

If they head East: it would almost be funny to watch it!

Having seen a number of rental units in Alaska get all 6 wheels off the ground hitting a frost heave at speed, my answer is no. As in NO DAMN WAY!

Isn't using a used RV a lot like renting a hotel after spring break. YUK.

You know how sometimes a newbie to RV ownership looks at those switches, valves, hose connectors, and all the other doo-dads that aren't explained in any of the manufacturer's literature, and feel like a dog watching television? I'm not sure I'd want to rent my RV out to folks that might be like that.

Not too sure I'd do it unless they were very familiar with everything and it had a deposit something like, you break it, you bought it, no argument. Oh yeah it would have to be heavily insured too so aside from the RV tiny trailers, I'd say no.

No no no [emoji85]. As Ed said if you get a “newbie-novice” as we all were at one time, it could be a disaster. Even with good intentions on the part of the renter damage is damage. Save yourself the hassle and grief.

I think it's one thing to build a 'business' on renting out several or more RVs or Motorhomes, versus renting out your own, especially if you 'like' it and don't want it damaged or 'lived in'(that's code for 'partied') by others : )

Unless you rarely use your own RV, I can't see how managing it as a rental makes much logistical 'cents'... you have your own personal items inside, so you have to remove things as people would rent it(unless you decide to leave certain items within the RV that other folks might 'need', such as plates, utensils, etc), you would have to provide a LOT of education(we ALL know how much we really DIDN'T know when we first started!) as most folks renting a 'vacation' RV are not necessarily well versed in all things RVing, and you'd have to be on hand 24/7 to answer the phone calls about something 'not working right!'.

But, then again, some folks are the landlord type, and some of us ain't...

Do you want your own personal bed slept in by others? If that's not something you can stomach, this rental plan is not for you!
