I have done research on different states CCW laws and you can add my home state of Illinois to the "no" list. The only way you can carry legally in all 50 states is LEOSA. Without that it is only possible to carry in about 38 or 40 states and that takes several permits. Jim.

This is a very odd thing that I'm going to say: I apologize if I'm not able to make my meaning clear...
I'm pretty reluctant to use anything that might blind an attacker: temporarily or otherwise.
In today's litigious society: I think that you leave yourself open to legal action, that might just make you wish that you had given the idiot what he was demanding...
After all... It's not what you did to them: it's what they say that you did to them.

It seems odd to advocate for potentially killing the fool. In light of their actions: it may be easier to defend in Court.

Lots of Cosmic Karma here. I will always arm myself with the option to protect my family everywhere I go, period. The "if I need to have a gun there, I won't go" is dreaming. "If I can't carry, I WILL NOT GO" is what I live by. "It's not about total reciprocity...it's about how you carry in other states. You may have to have weapon unloaded with ammo separate and items stowed in trunk or similar situations, but you can have a weapon and at motorhome (as defined by most state laws) is an extension of your home. It's what the 2nd Amendment is all about. It's your choice but when things go bad, you better hope you're camping next to someone like me. Things are different today and your a** is no place to store your head anymore. No sense in going through all the scenarios here, just watch the news for a little while. You are not exempt nor are you above. As an active LEO, it's very easy to gain a false sense of exemption, as everywhere you went your car and uniform (not you) spoke for you and fended off what could have been a bad situation. You're just a regular ole Joe now and anything can happen. Do you lock your home and car? Do you have an alarm system? Do you have security cameras? Do you look both ways before you cross the street? If so, you confirm bad things can happen beyond your control. Why is your wife and children's life not as important as your car?

Bob...the minute you start thinking sympathetically about protecting someone who wants to kill you is the moment things go wrong. Equip yourself with options and levels of defense and train with them. Know the "stand your ground" laws or lack of them in your areas of travel and judge your travel accordingly. Training in self defense is one of the best and most confidence building things you can do. Know when and where you can do what and why.

I'm not sympathetic to them at all...
I'd just rather not leave a survivor: than leave one that might be looking to sue me.

Otherwise: I agree with you 100%

"DRT" Dead Right There!! They can't talk!! I have a body camera that goes around my neck about the size of a dime and looks like jewelry. It records for 2 hours. When it "areas of uncertainty", I wear it. Nothing better than a witness, plus it keeps my mind and mouth on track as well. My fuse for idiots has grown very short with age.

How did we get to this point where people feel the need to travel our country like it's Fallujah?

I think it started when they allowed blue jeans, t-shirts and shorts to be worn in high school. And it's not a feeling of the need...it's a necessity and a defensive strategy, not an offensive option we choose. Lots of great things to see in Chicago. What's your first thoughts about traveling there?

I think of it as "being prepared for the unexpected".
Much like towing coverage, or Health Insurance.

How about leaving this forum to rv's and not a veiled effort to discuss Guns.

That is strictly what was intended and accomplished here. Take it to a gun site.

Interestingly, I've developed a new game on this forum...read someones post first and try to guess what state they live. It's very consistent and I'm at 100%. How hilarious!!

Whether or not you own firearms: some folks around you do. Since RVers are not always "Home & Safe": it's normal to want to discuss security measures that are taken...

Do you know what it is about firearms that gets folks killed?

...It's not carelessness: it's ignorance!

Discussing laws, ownership, safe storage, and tactical usage; this is how we learn...

"Sticking your head in the sand", is really the most counter-productive step that you can take.
