Slide support

Anyone have pros and cons about using adjustable slide braces under the long slides on class c coaches? Thanks

It could be just me...
But I think that they're trying to fulfill a need that doesn't exist.

I don't think it can hurt. I don't have one on mine but when my 260 lbs. plus Wife's 170, I would think that weight over time could cause problems but in all reality, supports would seem to take weight off of slide parts. Us, over 400 lbs out there.

In any coach I'd think that no. What happens if the coach shifts or the levelers/jacks sink under the coach but the jacks under the slide don't?

We had a 5th wheel for 10 years that had the standard couch & dinette slideout. Never used jacks under the slideout and never had an issue with it. On that camper the slideout would extend a good 3'--even at that distance it never leaned or dropped (even with 7 adults all sitting in the slide (4 in dinette, 3 on couch)).

Absolutely not! If coach settles it will put strain in the opposite direction than was designed. Also may affect the warranty.
If you were to set it up permanently on a slab with frame supported, as a seasonal somewbere, then maybe put supports under slides, if very little chance of movement.

I was kind of wondering about the possibility of bending those slides, if things started shifting around...

Way back when, I bought a pair to support the full side slide on my southwind. What a pain, I did not want them to tight so as to not bend the slide in the wrong way. Like wise did not want them to loose as to not do there job. What ended up was, no sooner had I set them return to the coach sat down I could hear them fall to the ground. They are now in my tool shed and make great table supports.

If you tighten them up to do a job you are asking for trouble with your slide. The upward pressure will be alot. Its just a bad idea save your money.

Glad I did some searching on this issue, because I was going to get them for my slides, but if the slides can't handle my 120 pounds, I'm thinking the whole rig is in trouble. LOL Thanks for the info on this subject!
