Angry Stuck at an RV park with large slide out

Palazzo35.1 long slide stuck out. Called Thor tech support and they told us several things to do but none of them worked. Since it is Sunday, Thor Tech told us to call Good Sam's. They couldn't get it in either. Now we are having to wait another day to get help tomorrow. This is the second time since August we have had this problem. I am so dissappointed in Thor!!!!! The slide has not worked properly since we bought it in August. I'm not a happy camper!!!

Not So Happy Camper,
Amazing how may Thor owners have trouble with the long slide out. Sorry to say you are not alone. It's a cheaply made Lippert system that they went with to save money. Hopefully Lippert has gotton the hint that it is a lousy system and will stand behind it and will make it right for all coach owners.
Bad part in getting long slide repaired, we haven't found anyone that has had the knowledge to fix it. Camping World is not the place to go, I can tell you that. Two CW tried to fix it and failed.
Good Luck on getting it fixed tomorrow so you can continue your trip and enjoy it.
(side note) Your not the only one disappointed in Thor. There is a long list of owners that are disgusted with the Thor Q/C.

There is supposed to be a manual crank override. I saw it on Youtube.

Thanks JD Hoge. I wonder why the Thor Tech didn't mention it when I called him 3 times yesterday.
As of this morning, the slide is still hanging out 10" and we have exhausted all ideas and suggestions from the Thor Tech. We even let the Good Sam's guy talk to Thor and still nothing.
As soon as Motorhome Specialists in Avarado open this morning, I will be calling them for help. I should have known the slide was an issue back in August when I bought the Palazzo. It was stuck then, but the dealer said they "fixed" it. It worked once. This is the second time we used the slide after the "fix". At least I am still under warranty. Hopefully Thor will come through and make it right.

I am not sure how many options you really have.

I think the issue is those huge slide outs are really not practical, and I wonder if there are even engineers on staff at the manufacturer that do first-article testing on such designs.

Not So Happy Camper,
Did you get it fixed and are you on the move? Just wondering if you are becoming a happier camper.

There is a Lippert (Schwintek) web page that shows you how to push in the slide. I am really surprised at the incompetence of the "RV techs" out there. Doesn't one of them know how to use a computer. It is on You Tube

KNMIB,
Oh no, not a happier camper. We have not been able to use our coach because of slide out for just about 9 months. During the nine months we have been able to use the coach 3 times, but haven't had a trip to this date without slide out or hydraulic problems.
Camping World tried for months under Thors leadership to correct things. Slide outs takes the factory to fix it correctly. We haven't found a camping world yet that knows what they are doing, plus it takes weeks to get them to complete the work. One excuse after another.
We would definitely never buy a coach from Camping World. It is all about the sale and money. Once they got ya, they try to forget you.
Sad, Marcus Lemonis. You need to spend time on your own company, Camping World. Fix your own instead of trying to fix other companies.

They have tons of videos on you tube about their system. Have you seen them?
Here's one on overiding a faulted controller

Here's one on accessing the motors.

I watched one once on disengaging the motors so that you could manually shoulder the slide in. Can't find it now but I'll be you could search for it. It was made by the factory. Looked fairly easy.... no need to remove the wiper seals, just a screw or tow and disengage the motors, then the slide should freely move.
If your slide is so big, I can imagine it taking more than a shoulder to shove it in though....

We were able to finally get enough men to help us push the slide in. The tracks on one side are sheared so getting the slide in was like zipping a broken zipper. I am now back at Motor Home Specialists in Alvarado Texas. I am hoping they are better than Camping World. My only complaint with Motorhome Specialists is they have expanded their sales department so fast, they are unable to keep up with warranty work. Our motorhome sat on their lot over 4 weeks before we could get it looked at. We picked it up last Saturday and now here we are back again 4 days later for the slide repair. Hopefully we will get good service this time! Trying to stay positive!

I am a happy camper again! Well, almost. John from Thor called my husband just now and was awesome! He said he didn't want us to have any out of pocket expenses for this slide episode. Things are beginning to look up! I am so thankful!!!!
