Thor Chateau 31W is 1 AC enough?

We are new to RV life. Looking at 2017 Class C Chateau 31W. Does anyone have experience camping in HOT Texas weather in this RV. Does one AC unit keep it cool?
Thank you for sharing.

I have the 31L, and was in Moab this July where the temp everyday was 106*. 1 a/c was barely enough. So we purchased a Vornado fan and put it at the front of the coach to blow air to the back of the coach and it made a big difference.

If you live in Texas you need two ACs, period!!! We have a 31' Windsport, many times we've been in spots with no shade, one AC just can't keep up. Side benefit is 50 amps and bigger generator, both of which come in handy down the road.

We have the Four Winds 31W version... and even with the upgraded (15,000 vs the 13,500) single air- it's not enough. spent a few nights at Lake Powell in the summer and it wasn't even close to keeping up with the heat.

Thank you for your quick and informative responses! You guys are awesome.

Looks like we need two A/C's.

Would a decent fan help to move the air around enough to make a difference?

We have a Quantum WS31 in AS. One A.C. is not enough. However, after clearing the botched job of making the duct openings, and using fans we have been able to getby.Click image for larger version

One is fine, until it gets hot and you need two. Frankly the one we have in our 25 footer, is on the low marginal side. By putting a fan in front and having it blow into the rear of the coach it does even the cooling out much better, but since I am a lover of air conditioning, I can not honestly say its enough. Frankly if I could, even in a 25 footer, I would build it with 50 amp service and mount two AC's.

When it's 80-80 degrees (and not humid here in the west) it does a decent job... although we would run it all day to keep it working. But once you get up over about 95... it can't keep up. We tried fans... but you're just blowing the hot air around. Just depends on what kind of conditions you'll be in.

Its that old 'inversely proportional to need' thing again!!!!

I just came back from a weekend in Chula Vista, CA. It was about 95 all weekend long. Our 15K BTU was not enough to to coll down my Thor ACE 29'. The inside temp was still around 80.

Plus, with two, if one goes down you still have a backup.

Ironically we are headed there this weekend, but looks like the weather will be cooler this week, fortunately. I have been there when it was 95 and 100 degrees, in our former DP, which had two 15,000BTU AC's, and they were not enough to hold it below low 80's. I frankly have never seen an RV that could be air conditioned at least to my satisfaction, when the outside temps are high 90's or over 100 degrees.

Me too!

I always wondered why some folks will heat their house to 78 degrees in January...

...And then cool it to 65 degrees in August!

Thank you for sharing.
We just purchased a 31W 3 weeks ago....our first RV....here in FL I can tell you 1 AC is not enough. The air doesnt cool enough in the bedroom, but is great up front. We found a small fan to circulate the air to be helpful. Also closing the vents on the main unit forces air thru the ceiling vents. Hope this helps

Check that insulation is not restricting the duct openings as mine were. A huge increase in airflow after I opened them up. Also found that st the vents over the bunk, no end do .such air was flowing into the front cap which is uninsulated. Plugged those openings as well. if you don't even with all vents closed, much air is being wasted into the cap. Also found the baffle between the intake and exhaust sides if the A.C. unit was not installed correctly reducing efficiency.
