Thor Products

I purchased a 2016 Thor ACE new. I have owned it for 9 months and 3 1/2 months of that has been spent in the shop for numerous repairs; A/C, Heating, Inverter, Refrigerator, Electrical, Roof leaks, Flooring, Windows, Leveling System. Then Thor told me that since my RV was over 90 days old the roof leaks weren't covered. This RV is garbage and they obviously don't stand behind their product. I would advise any Prospective RV buyers to avoid Thor Products

Look into Florida lemon law for RV's. If more than 3 attempts were made to repair or unit was out of service for more than 30 days, they may be required to make a final attempt to repair or buy back your defective unit.
I unfortunately have had to research this recently due to issue with a Windsport i purchased in July, had for a week and has been in shop since. Google it for info or there are some attorneys that specialize in Florida lemon law that may be able to help. Sorry for your issues and hoping my issues do not grow into the size problems you have had!

When you get ready to replace it you better do serious research as Thor owns the biggest share of ALL rvs on the road, 75-85%+/-.

Although we have had many things go wrong with our Axis, including wire harness problems, heating and propane issues, window replacement. None of them took more than a day to repair.
When we bought our RV from Total Value Rv in Elkhart, I told them that I did not want to leave it for repairs. They schedule one or two, what they call "live repairs" each day I usually take that spot. We have spent the night in their campground only once. They are a great dealership and I suspect one of the reasons I remain positive about our coach.

I know collectively Thor is LARGE with all RVs categories.

How large, % of market, are they considering Class A only, TMC/Jayco/Entegra. I dont think I have ever seen that stat.

So sorry for your misfortune with your new coach. Just a guess, does your dealer's initials equal C W?

For years I have read different posts on a few RV forums about QC problems with this brand or that brand. All of our perceptions are different. What one person may consider to be unacceptable issues with a recently purchased RV another person may just take in stride and not get too excited about. Then of course there are the handful of RV's that right from the factory floor have such major issues they should have just went right to the junk heap.

Factory warranties and extended warranties may or may not save you some money, but who wants their RV to spend most of its life in a repair facility rather than being used for its intended purpose.

We are in the process of returning to full time RVing. Since we have had okay luck with our Challenger we began our search for a different coach by investigating a "gently" used 45' Tuscany DP. We also did some research on the 42' to 45' Newmar's and Tiffin's. There is a difference in quality for these 3 manufacturers and the prices reflect that. For example, a used 2010 Newmar, a 2012 Tiffin, and a 2016 Tuscany could all be equipped and powered about the same, with the same miles, and priced the same. It is when you start looking at the little stuff and the fit and finish that you will see the differences. We are still looking and still researching. This will only be our 4th RV purchase and I still feel like I am getting ready to walk into a Vegas casino with my checkbook!

Of the three choice that you mentioned: which one stands out as having the highest overall quality?

I trade my motorhome in every 2 years and their will never be another thor product in my driveway. stay away from camping world st Augustine fl. their service is horrible. I have since sold all of my stock In thor and camping world because its a bubble that's going to bust in the near future, they have very few second buy costumers.

I recognize hat you have to speak from your experience but wish you wouldn't generalize that "Thor is garbage". Do you have actual data to support your statement that they have very few second buy customers? I am very happy with my 2017 Freedom Elite and with Thor's customer service /support. I would not hesitate to buy another. Thor is what it is and the machines are what they are - low to mid market products. My 26 ft Class C cost considerably less than a nice pickup truck and I consider it to be a good value. It's certainly not a Tiffin or a Newmar but after working out a few bugs and adjustments it's been terrific. I've spoken with many Thor customers in various campgrounds and generally find them to be a happy lot. I'd encourage folks considering an RV purchase to do their research and make an informed buying decision.

I guess his data doesn't include me since I have purchased my 3rd Thor product. They have their bugs, but I always have been happy with their customer support and all issues have been resolved. I have friends who own a Winnebago and a Prevost and they to have had issues that had to be resolved.

Thor

We are very happy with our 2016 Freedom Elite - it's our third RV in nearly 40 years.

It has been our experience that most of the components (refrigerator, stove, AC) are the same in most brands of RVs.

We did have a few minor "adjustments" but our dealer (CW in Bakersfield, CA) was great and Mr. Homer is also Mr. Handy which helps in owning an RV (or anything else for that matter).

Thor is not the best and not the worst, we have been very happy with our Vegas.
What I find with Thor is they have some very sharp designers but they tend to use less expensive products and materials in their coaches.

My biggest issue with Thor has been the difficulty in obtaining reference materials such as wiring diagrams , fuse locations and such.

I still feel that I have gotten a good value for what I paid and the problems that I have had have been minor in nature.

If we (As a Species...) can design, build, and market something: we all always find ways to mess things up...
Thor's not the first, and they sure won't be the last!

Out of curiosity, is there anything in Thor's warranty about only covering roof leaks for 90 days?
