Thor Survey - RV Park Office

Last Weekend we received a Thor Survey, via email, even has our VIN # on it. First we have received since our purchase on 7-10-2017. We completed it , our ratings were not very positive. We have not had the best experience with this unit. It literally is back to the dealer for repairs after each use. It has spent as much time in Warranty repair as in our possession. We tried to complete the survey with as much useful information as possible.
One of our big issues is the antenna and Sucky TV's. We all no OTA reception and cable use are pretty nonexistent.
First thing Monday morning , hubby recieves a phone call from Thor regarding our survey responses. He patiently answered their questions, and tried to provide more useful information to them.
Thor response for the non-cable ready Sucky TV's - we need to simply go to the RV Park Office and ask for a cable box to use while we are there.
Has ANYONE every stayed at this RV Park with cable boxes to hand out???

Yes, we've been to parks that had boxes to loan, others no, but have found that most of the parks with cable worked OK with our Sucky TVs. I replaced one, and since that have had no issues with cable with any of the many parks we have been at.

Depending on where we stay, we get good antenna TV if we aren't too far from the origin.

Can you find a different service place? If you are not out of warranty, ask Thor where else you can take it for warranty service.

We stayed at a park in Traverse City MI about 3 years ago that was just converting to the boxes. They charged rent on them. I think the cable company installed them and recieved the rent on the boxes saving the park the cost of suppling cable service.

Bear Creek in Asheville actually has the converter boxes built into each power post. They assign you a "frequency specific to your site" remote control to use in the RV. There's no way to get cable TV without some type of converter box. At least...I think. When I start thinking, sometimes the train takes a dirt road.

Check it out

Will have to start asking, we are unaware of these parks.
No, closer place for service than the Dealer. It's not repeated issues always, it's communication amongst technicians, and new factory issues each time, for the most part. They just replaced living TV, due to loose cable connector, may help.

I have stayed at several with boxes and they do not work with the “Sucky” TVs. We also bought a box recommended by a local cable service tech at a park in Florida. He hooked it up and it didn’t work. It appears the TVs do not have the necessary QAM converter to decode the scrambled cable signal. It has the ATSC which picks up ota signals that are not scrambled. Jason Threadway at Thor told us the TVs work for their intended purpose - ota free stations. He further stated the TVs have the QAM but the company did not pay for it to be used with the TVs. Lol. Not sure what to believe any more.

We got our 6 month survey from Thor via email 10 months after we purchased our Hurricane 31s. Like you, ours has been in for warranty work each time after we used it. After 1 year of ownership the warranty service center has had our MH for 4 months. On the survey I was anything but positive and had a long list of complaints and suggestions covering everything from poor workmanship, lack of quality control, to inferior products. I have yet to hear anything from Thor concerning the survey.

Since the US Supreme Court ruled that cable companies could require you to use a cable box, my cable ready tv at home requires a cable box. Some tvs no longer make them cable ready. We are on Cox and there cable box is awful.

Deuce, we had a 2015 Windsport with "sucky TVs" and our reception was hit or miss with cable - some RV parks' cable was fine for the TVs and some we had absolutely no reception. On antenna, if we weren't in a canyon or somewhere else where there was no way for reception (areas of the Rockies in CO, blocked by a mountain or two), reception was very good. (remember to turn off the signal enhancer when using cable - sometimes it worked!!)

I purchased this https://www.homedepot.com/p/Klein-To...-058/202520424 at Home Depot for $23. It's a quick way to test the cables. I found a disconnected line and three extremely loose connections.
