Thor Uncomfortable Seating
Thor should really look for a new furniture and seating vendor! Do the higher end units have a better quality sofa, dinette, driver & passenger seating? The comfort level is horrible.

The questions are always:
Would you have paid for the upgrade upfront? Why haven't you paid for the upgrade now that you want an upgrade?
$2,000 recliner instead of couch.
$3,000 front seats with an option for $6,000 front seats.
Would you have paid $8,000 more for just seating, or would that particularly upgraded Thor languish on the lot? Or do you have a $600 upgrade in mind?
$12,000 water/coach heater?
$4,000 TV....three $4,000 tv's?
$500 roof vents, times two?
$1,500 in unseen uv window tint?
Would have paid $6,500 for the upgraded sound system like car buyers do?
A $1,300 microwave
A $3,400 oven
$9,500 wet bay?
$1,300 electrical cord hooked to a $600 safety device?
$1,000 self retracting black hose?
$1,000 self retracting fresh hose?
$2,000 reverse osmosis?
$8,000 solar?
$5,000 inverter?
$5,000 in aluminum wheels?
$6,000 levelers?
$15,000 four wheel drive?
$11,000 supercharger and engine build?
$1200 chassis battery?
$4,000 coach batteries?
These are all items complained about within the last short time or so on this forum.
The things installed in a MotorHome are just place holders until you replace them with what you really wanted. Any dealer will replace any item you ask, before delivery.
Tell us where you'd have stopped
The seating is indeed pretty poor. The bad seats give me the pleasure of time...to choose the seats I think will replace the poor seats. Mine will be vented and heated pick-up truck seats, bought used. Your choice might be Q30 seats or air rides. We live with what we can live with and change what we can't live with.
A good frame of mind might be:
'how nice of them to give me a couch until I find the one I want.'

Shopping vendors solves this problem....unless they own the furniture company. Part two of the question was. Do they put a more quality furniture package in their more expensive coaches?

THAT'S an SAT question.
Chevrolet is to Thor as Cadillac is to______
A Thor
B prevost
C if it were Buick instead of Chevy the answer would be Tiffin.
D all vehicles are the same no matter the price or expectation.
I'm not being mean, I'm not understanding what you mean by more expensive. Your 24.1 could have been more expensive had you ordered the seats. A Prevost could have been less expensive I hadn't ordered the ostrich leather ceiling.
You bought yours as the absolute base model.
Rv's are presented to us as cars used to be. Ever see 'body by fisher' on a gm product?
You ordered a gm minimum, not even a body, and added to it as you saw fit.
Even the new corvette has seats you can upgrade, even the headliner if you like, even the color of the brake calipers... Just the same options you had when you sitting with the finance/paperwork guy upon purchase. The very same options. A store and internet full of anything you could dream of. But you didn't buy the upgrade model seats.
My question was:
If they loaded your 24.1 up to $225,000 would you have bought it?
Or
Would you have bought it empty to save $3,000 and have no furnishings?
Personally I'd love to have had an engine choice. I didn't. I'll modify this one until I'm happy. I think 'happy' should be the plan. Happy with what I have, happy to change it to suit. I'm just glad it had a base engine to improve upon.
Sssooo many posters here find something, in some cases anything, to be unhappy or perturbed about. I've asked before, why not sell it and find the real one you want or modify the mistake you made until you're comfortable. I get
crickets.
(I'm just trying to understand all the constant Thor hashing when the dealer would have gladly added ANY item you wanted to the base model Thor)

Drop by MHSRV and have a look at 45+ Thor MCs on the lot and decide for yourself. You can compare Thor MC with Coachman, Forest River, Holiday Rambler, Monaco and Fleetwood RV.

Ducksface, you present a unique perspective. Maybe, in the near future the manufactures will offer upgrade packages a person can contemplate. Simple jackknife sofa & bench dinette OR dual recliner love seat & dinette chairs/table for $2 grand.

I would assume these upgrades would have to be on an ordered mh. Most people buy what's on the lots

We looked at and drove RV's from Winnebago, Tiffin, Fleetwood, Forest River, and more before we bought our Aria. Didn't notice much difference in the comfort level of the seats between them (I find the seats is ours to be quite comfortable). What I did notice is that all of the seats are much wider than they were in our first two class A's (both Fleetwoods). It seems that in the 15 years between our purchases, the manufacturers have started catering more to fit the larger drivers and passengers that it seems some of us have become.

For Thor Industries, all items in a particular RV must be listed on the Dealer's order form. You can go to a Thor dealer and have them order what you want IF the item is listed on the order form. Newmar and Tiffin gas coaches allow you to work directly with the factory and the dealer to customize items not listed on the standard order form. Be aware this a very expensive process relatively to a stock order form model coach. So much so that is is usually cheaper to buy the floor plan you want and change out the furniture, appliances and cabinets than have the factory do it.

I agree with Ducksface, and not to sound mean...
But you always have the choice to walk away from the deal.
Having said this: we are considering swapping the couch out of our Tiffin, for a pair of recliners... about $2000! )

Tiffin offers Theater seating in the floor plan as an option. Thor Axis does not.

Perhaps the Class A rigs get that option: not my little Class C...
My point is that you can negotiate over virtually anything that's going to be in your rig: before you start signing the checks...

Bob, Not sure the year of yours, but All of the 2020 WAYFARER floor plans spec.
theater seating as an option. In your opinion is the Tiffin sofa better quality than the one in the Outlaw?

My 2019 is the discontinued BW model.
And yes: the sofa is more comfortable than the one that was in our Outlaw.

Ford F550 XLT cab...excellent seating and premium components. Sofa and dinette are very comfortable, as is the Denver Mattress. If not, I wouldn't have bought it. If it don't fit your butt...why'd you buy it?

The dinette cushions are comfortable when you sit on them but after time they flatten out to nothing. I guess I should have sat in each seat for a while to test them out. I definitely would have paid for better foam padding for the dinette.
Some things aren't noticeable until after you have used them for a while.
I think owners should be allowed to complain about issues, and Duckface is free to complain about the complainers.

Bottom line...it's a lot of money and buyers should spend a serious amount of time sitting in them and testing everything out before purchase. Same holds for the "test drive". A ride around the block doesn't cut it. If you've reached "purchase point" in your search, a long drive of 50+ miles is in order. You need to simulate a camping experience over a few hours inside the coach and how things fit your plan. Dealers push you to close. They know the weak point better than anyone and will quickly steer you away from them. The "place settings" on the dining table, flowers randomly throughout the coach and decorative throw pillows everywhere direct your focus to the "end result". Move this crap and sit down, lay on the bed for a while and get the feel of it. Most everything inside is vendor supplied. And, yes...there are different quality levels of interior products as the price point goes up. The industry as a whole is price driven...it's a matrix of just how much inexpensive and light features can we build into them. The chassis GVWR is a break point as well. It's so sad that the learning curve for many buyers enters the picture after the purchase and it all begins with not spending enough time before the purchase. It took me two years, 12 RV shows, too many dealer visits to count and hundreds of hours of research to make my call. Are there things I wish I had done different after the purchase?...nope.

I agree with duckface. Get in the coach, use it see what works and what doesn't and go from there. We just replaced the TV over the dinette (first step). Probably next will be that couch has to go!

I have been in business plus 35yrs.
My point was they could or should source other vendors like we do (not costing them anything). I guess I'm a buyers advocate. I should have opened and locked the Trimark door lock with the pot metal strike a few hundred times before purchasing.....Maybe their will be a lock replacement before a death.
