Tornadoes & Floods

Wow. So many up and down throughout the mid-west. Any stories, scares, losses, precautions?

All the water from out west has been making it's way down the Arkansas River and flooding us here now. North Little Rock is installing the gates in the seawall. Ft. Smith has worst flooding in history. Hasn't been this bad here since 1990, and they are predicting this will be worse with more torrential rain on the way. Evacuations taking place in the worst areas.

Stories, just turn on the news.
Scares, ya, everyone in the path of these storms.
Losses, just turn on the news for the large losses.
Precautions, hook up and get out of the way. You will never win against Mother Nature when she rages like this.

Stay safe out there.

In as much campgrounds seem to be always situated near rivers and lakes, low lands I suspect they are getting hit proportionately higher than some other businesses. Homeowners are getting in their rigs and getting out of harms way but where are they going? What a sad state of affairs for so many.

We had to evacuate this campground the Wednesday before Memorial Day weekend. They had to call everyone that was coming in the holiday weekend and tell them don’t come. The picnic table in the middle of the picture was our original site. Had to move on Tuesday to a higher site but that was not high enough.

Glad it didn’t creep up on ya overnight. I’m sure this is very common for many campers right now.

If you are in an area that could get bad storms. Ask where the storm shelter is. Most in the tomato alley have a shelter or at least give you access to a building. It could be damaged, but it would be far better to be in there instead of your rig.
Stay safe.
