Towing a trailer with my Thor ACE 29.4

I will be towing a 10 foot enclosed trailer that has a Harley bagger inside, so approximately 1950 pounds, plus some assorted cargo. Somewhere in the range of 2500 ponds total.

Is there a "tow mode" on the Thor or OD turn off and is it recommended that I turn it off when towing. We will be traveling across country.

Does anyone have experience with this?

There is a Tow/Haul mode button on the end of the gear shift.

You will likely get some different opinions...
I use tow/haul when towing approx 3600 lb Jeep on anything with hills.
My general rule of thumb when towing - if I notice the transmission 'hunting' (shifting too often) - or not downshifting soon enough to maintain speed - I turn on tow/haul.

Since you've got it: you always have the option to "experiment" with it...
Flat level ground shouldn't be a problem: regardless of whether or no you use it.
When you start hitting the hills: see how your rig performs without it, and then add it into the mix.
Good luck, and have a safe and memorable trip!

How about a pictures of that "Bagger"?

We tow our KIA using a tow dolly. Setting the tow/haul mode is done right after starting. I do however turn it off when going up hills, although the folks on the forum say let the transmition scream. I feel more comfortable letting me keep the rpms up. I have never found it necessary to turn the od off. Just hook up travel and enjoy.

I tow an open race car trailer with a Camaro bracket car, 5200 to 5500 total. Tow/Haul is sometimmes used in conjuction with cruise on flat roads. Inclines will sometimes cause too many downshifts either uphill or downhill or both. You may want experiment trying different combinations. Florida is mostly flat and I use T/H just raise shift points getting up to speed and merging. In the hilly Carolinas is different and usually leave cruise off but T/H on.
