Chateau 31Y Inverter

We’re interested in adding an inverter to our 2018 31Y. We also have 2 solar panels. How do I choose the inverter rated for my RV?

Thanks,

Chris

So the first question to answer is what do you want to power with the inverter?
Add up the watts of all the appliances, etc you want to run, add a little bit, and that is the size inverter you need.
Then see what battery capacity you need for the timeframe you want to run for... and what solar is needed to supplement.
Big difference if you want to power a couple of TV's... versus a residential fridge, etc.

My Outlaw 29H came with a Xantrex Pro 1000 and it was wired just for the TV's.

I installed a Xantrex Freedom Xi 2000 Pure Sine Wave Inverter so I could run the 5000 BTU A/C in the garage / master bedroom and also the microwave and fridge. I made a wiring change or two from the stock Inverter so I could put anything on the Inverter (with the exception of the main A/C and Converter) when I wanted / need to.

Mine was pre-wired for solar so I also added two Renogy 160W flexible solar panels and a Rover MPPT Controller.

I still have the two stock house batteries that are over 2 years old and I have been able to run the Fridge off the Inverter all day during daylight (so now it is a 3-way fridge.... electric, gas or Inverter). I have also been able to run the garage A/C for well over an hour during daylight and never have gotten a low battery message from the Inverter.

...there are some easy and inexpensive 'Power Inverters' on the shelf at W*mt in the tire/battery section.... some you just plug into your existing 12v round plug, or some with more power that attach with alligator style clips directly to your battery(S)...
You simply plug things directly into the power inverter, OR you simply plug an extension cord and run it to whatever you want to power...

take a quick and easy test run with one of these Power Inverters and see how it serves you... maybe $50 or less and you're on your way to powering TVs, DVD player, Satellite receivers, electric fans to keep you cool, etc.

Later, once you've determined what your 'real' needs for an inverter are, you can look at adding a more 'whole house' inverter, which would help power your outlets, and everything plugged into them, including fridge, microwave, etc.
and.... you'll then also want to see if you need to INCREASE your battery storage, othewise having a sizable Inverter will serve you no purpose.

I do have a Xantrax Pro 1000 for sale that was stock in my Outlaw 29H. It was only ~6 months old when I pulled it out and used only a few times.

If you are interested shoot me a PM.

It is big enough to run the TV's or a Norcold 2-way fridge. I even ran my 5000 BTU A/C unit off it for 20 minutes as a test. I switched to a Purse Since wave Inverter so I could safely run the garage A/C or the microwave.
