Portable satellite receiver

What is a good receiver to get ,the King Tailgater or the Dish Playmaker?

Who is your service provider? If it is Dish, you have more options since they can do HD on the smaller dome style antennas. If it is DirecTV, your choices are limited and you can't get HD without a big tripod mounted antenna. We have the Winegard Carryout G2+ which lets us use either Dish or DirecTV (currently using Dish.)

I have the Wineguard Pathway X2. The nice thing about it is can get both Dish Network east and west coast satellites. Last time we were camping on Long Island we could not get the east coast satellites because of trees but was able to get the west coast because they were lower in the horizon. Dish also has pay as you go for $7.00 a month.

I thought the stand alone pay as you go is 35/mo

add a receiver to an existing house account is 7/mo

I have Dish Network at home so $7.00 a month is because of that. It's the cost of just adding an extra receiver.

That is not the pay as you go plan. You have a contract price with Dish for residential service. The PAYG plan is month to month and can be stopped or suspended anytime. The packages are also standard pricing, no discounts. Residential contract plans have a substantial discount.

Are there any initiation costs for setting up a pay as you go account. We own our equipment (portable Dish antenna and Wally receiver) and don't currently use Dish at home...we have DirectTV. Want Dish for the Rv because it seems to have more options and less cumbersome than DirectTV. So, wondering what it would cost to get our equipment activated? And, seeking input from fellow RV'ers with real world experience. Thanks!
