Under the slide

I am a proud owner of a 2018 Thor Hurricane 35M. I noticed underneath the full slide that there are three uncovered areas like the attached photo. Is this normal? Also, Thor talks about the 3 Trax system but my 2018 only has 2.

My 3 open areas are covered with heavy duty rubber that overlaps each other. If you have the full wall slide you really need the 3 track system on the ends of the slide. That’s a lot of weight for 2. Jerry

3 Trax

The 3 Trax system are track on the side of the slide, not the bottom. They started using the 3 Trax in October 2014, so you should have them. Look on the slide side wall and you should see two metal tracks at about 5ft up from the floor and one track lower down.

This is normal. If you look back up inside those tracks you'll see "T" shaped guides that appear to keep the slide moving straight in and out. Mine are white appear to be steel and hard mounted.

Mine are covered, and it keeps foreign material and critters out.

I figure it would depend on the size of your slide. Close inspection of the pic at the top reveals some stainless steel plates for joint reinforcement and the "T" slots are open. Since the factory didn't enclose those, mine are the same, I don't figure to second-guess their reasoning. My slide is a full side slide on the 30.2 If critters need to get in this would be more challenging than other methods. I don't store my coach with the slide open so it's not a convenient method of entry for varmints. I keep traps set in the generator bay, coach and engine bay and so far nothing...and no sign of intrusion. Doesn't mean it won't happen as my previous pull behind camper had one instance of mice but we remedied that rather quickly.

Ours has a couple that are not covered. Most with the overlapping rubber but a couple still open. I've noticed the same on the CW lot as I checked to see if ours may be an error.

Also, we do have the 3 track slide. Full slide on 1 side. But as I understand it, not all units do.
