I figure it would depend on the size of your slide. Close inspection of the pic at the top reveals some stainless steel plates for joint reinforcement and the "T" slots are open. Since the factory didn't enclose those, mine are the same, I don't figure to second-guess their reasoning. My slide is a full side slide on the 30.2 If critters need to get in this would be more challenging than other methods. I don't store my coach with the slide open so it's not a convenient method of entry for varmints. I keep traps set in the generator bay, coach and engine bay and so far nothing...and no sign of intrusion. Doesn't mean it won't happen as my previous pull behind camper had one instance of mice but we remedied that rather quickly.
