The tow/haul mode works great on downhill grades, I never have to touch the brake. When you tap on the brake pedal it will downshift and hold your speed all the way down.

We have the 6 spd in our 2016, but I am experiencing the same quirk. I get to the top of the grade, we are speeding up, but it won't shift for quite awhile. I usually take it out of tow/haul mode, let up and it will shift. Kind of annoying, but not worth it to me to spend 500 bucks for a 5 star. If people were reporting 2-4 mpg better, I would consider it.
I use an SCT (same as 5 star) to tune my Dodge Dakota drag race/show truck. It really fine tunes the thing for sure.
