Vegas vs Axis

We were looking at a Vegas on our local dealer's log and really liked it, but when I went onto the Thor website to check the specs I saw the Axis as well, and tried to compare the two, but the compare functionality on the website did not work for me. Every attempt to add the second RV to the compare page resulted in a message telling me there were no floor plans for the second vehicle and so I could not do a comparison.

I was wondering if anyone on this forum knows the differences between the two RVs. They look identical, the floor plans look identical and the information I could get for each looked identical. Both have the same engine, both seem to have the same external specs, at least for the 24.1 floor plan, which is what we were looking at, and I am completely puzzled why Thor would market two different RVs that look the same. I assume there is some differences and I am curious as to what they might be.

Well, I guess that would explain why I could not find any differences in the specs. I wonder why Thor markets two identical RVs under different names.

I can understand why you love the RV. The floor plan is wonderful, the interior of the RV feels spacious, the inside colors are pleasant and relaxing, the cab is comfortable and the view when driving is great. The only thing "wrong" is that my wife feels a Class A is too big, but that is because we have been using a small Class B which would fit into the closet in our neighbor's 40 foot RV.

Thanks for the answer. I can now stop looking at the specs trying to find the differences.

Yup Axis and Vegas units are siblings with a different haircut.

Colors and front end are about all that is different between them.

(Although Thor's website does list an extra floorplan for the Vegas line than the Axis one: 25.5)

Many RV manufacturers have "twin" lines: Its so that neighboring dealers can sell similar units without directly competing with each other (and Thor can sell more).

Yep, that's the only difference. Some dealerships carry the Vegas, others carry the Axis. Check all dealers for either and find the one in your desired floorplan that looks to be in the best condition. Some of the coaches are taken to several RV shows and also have heavy traffic at the dealer. They tend to get rather worn and damaged. Don't worry about the name (Axis or Vegas), just find the one you like. We got lucky and found one that had just been delivered to the dealer 3 weeks prior to us buying it. That doesn't mean there won't be any issues...there will be. That's just RV life. Most important is finding a good dealer. Some dealers are good for sales but may not have the best service department. You don't have to use that dealer for warranty work. Talk to people that are at the dealer having service performed and get their opinion on that dealer. Whichever you choose, Axis or Vegas, I hope you enjoy it as much as we have ours over the past 8 months. We LOVE our Vegas! And Thor has been very good to work with over the phone and getting warranty issues worked. Good luck.

Coming from a Class B it probably won't make any difference, but for us coming from TTs once we stood in the shower of the 24.1 and closed the curtain it was a deal-breaker. We loved the big bathroom though.

RVs are kinda like shoes, what fits us might not fit or appeal to you. We really like our Vegas 25.2. It has a bigger shower than the 24.1, and we like the walk around queen bed. There is someone for each of those floor plans. Lots of happy 24.1 owners, too.

Some suggest purchase of a gently used unit that has cleared the warranty and hopefully most of the initial issues have been resolved.

As you shop for dealers, check out Motor Home Specialist in Alvarado, Texas. They have had countless good reviews.

Happy hunting!
