Thhor Vegas 24.1

I'm looking for a Class C motorhome; however, in my area there is a 2014 Thor Vegas for sale that I am considering. I'm looking for some feedback from the forum about this Thor. It seems that 2014 was the 1st year for this model, so I'm a little skeptical.

Thanks,
Rocky

Lots of info on here for Axis/Vegas models. If you want a ton of info read the crowd sourced manual found here:
http://www.thorforums.com/forums/f10...nual-4961.html

Having said that: Our unit is a 2014 and has been pretty good to us over the past 3 years.

Things to look out for include:
  • Fuel pump issue on the generator (most likely already fixed by previous owners)
  • Windshield cracking (this may have been more frequent in later models)
  • Passenger mudflap hitting exhaust pipe
  • Leaks under either driver or passenger front windows (probably the most likely serious issue with the unit)
  • Transmission shifter cable melted against the exhaust pipe (also probably fixed by previous owners if they experienced it)
  • UV damage to top of front cap--typical of almost every model year Axis/Vegas unit
  • Water leaking behind the taillight fixtures (have the dealer remove them and look--very hard to see without removing them. A common motorhome problem not specific to Axis/Vegas units).

None of the above issues would prevent me from purchasing the unit provided the dealer was willing to fix them (the most glaring being the window leaks).

Welcome to the forum!

You are right that 2014 was the first year for Vegas and Axis. Subsequent years brought improvements over that first model. That doesn't mean that a 2014 would necessarily be any worse than a comparable Class C. Any RV, new or used, will have a few, or maybe many, issues to deal with. Most of the Vegas and Axis owners on this forum seem to be pretty happy with their rigs.

If you are a first-time RV buyer, be sure you have any RV you intend to buy inspected before you lay down your money. When you work out a budget, allow for replacing all the tires at about 5 years, and allow for repairs and modifications.

On shifter cable assembly that is not assembled to Ford factory settings-took 2015 Thor Vegas to Ford Dealer and sure enough shifter cable not on brackets and Ford fixed since still under their 3yr/36mo warranty. Suggestion to all owners is Check the shifter cable before problems possibly occur, saves a towing!
