Water Winterization Valve Location

I am having a minor problem with our fresh water system in our 2019 Siesta 24ST that we purchased used from La Mesa RV, in Port St Lucie, FL. Their used vehicle warranty is 15 days and on some other problems, they were less than helpful until I went to their corporate HQ.

But to my problem: I can get water from the tank and pump but not from the hose, bypassing the tank. I assumed that the water system just hadn't been de-winterized but I couldn't find any valves for that purpose either on the street side, where I did find the valves for by-passing the water heater, or on the curb side, where the water tank is. Both sides have panels on the forward halves of the twin beds that are not screwed down for access.

Before I start tearing up other parts of the motorhome, I thought it might be a good idea to ask for guidance as to where the winterization valves are located.

Thanks in advance.

Dick

As a short / quick answer, the bypass valves are near the water heater. Mine is under the back sink. Look for a panel that can be removed.

Look for #2 square head screws and remove them.

Look for a vented panel on the exterior of your rig. Look inside. If it’s the WH, then the bypass setup is on the other side of the WH. Look on the other side for your removable panel.

The water heater bypass valves are not causing your "No water from the hose " problem.

Thanks, Cavie. I've easily found the bypass valves by the water heater but, as you said, those aren't causing the problem. They just control bypassing the water heater.

Being that you have a motor home I can't be of much help with this but common sense tells me there is a selector valve somewhere near the water hook up and FW tank fill port in a nearby compartment. Possibly inside under a bed or a place like that. Near the water pump maybe.

Look where you connect the hose to the motorhome. There should be a rubber washer there and that washer has a screen built into it. When you tighten the hose the hose fitting compresses that washer and the screen pushes against a check valve to open the line so water can flow into the RV.

When you are using the water pump and water from your fresh water tank, that little washer with the screen on the external fitting is not depressing the check valve. This prevents water from coming out the shore fitting when you are using the water pump.

If you lost that washer with the screen, the system will work when using the water pump and water from the fresh water tank; however, it will not work when connected to shore water because the check valve in the fitting is not open due to the screen pushing on it.

Here's what that washer should look like. Be sure yours isn't missing.

Does your MH have 4-way valve in the water hookup compartment?
1. Top - Normal - water comes out of the fresh water tank, if the pump is on.
2. 3 o’clock - Winterize, turn pump on to draw rv antifreeze into the system.
3. Bottom - City - water is supplied from source you’ve hooked up to (don’t run the pump)
4. 9 o’clock - Fill - the fresh water tank from the city source. (No pump)

Not sure if this is any help.

Here’s what the water system controls look like on mine.

And here’s a link to the schematic. YMMV but it’s a start...
