My diesel generator start toggle on the dash of my Freightliner chassis has a green light in the "stop" or "prime" position. Service tech thought is was more glow plug than prime, and during a cold start he once had to hold it for about 60 seconds before starting. It did start within a few seconds (turned over 8-10 times and fired up). That light then remains on while the generator is running. Even though the generator is in the very front of the rig, basically under the front of the cab, it is hard to hear if there are fans and AC on inside the rig, so the light is handy to see if the generator is running or is off.
