25 Day trip in our Vegas 24.1

We just finished a trip from St. Louis to Waterton, Banff, Jasper, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Black Hills,Mt. Rushmore and back. We recreated a trip we did 42 years ago in a car and tent. Our favorite campsites were in Banff at the Tunnel Mountain RV park and near Hill City, SD at the Rafter J Bar Ranch. Great scenery everywhere we went!
Vegas performed well getting around 9.0 miles per gallon despite lots of time in the mountains while towing our Jeep Grand Cherokee. Driving in the mountains you really appreciate the E450 transmission on the climbs and especially steep declines when it automatically downshifts to help control your speed.
Can’t wait for the next trip!

That sounds like it was a great trip.

So far the longest we've taken is 11 days. I keep threatening to plan longer ones but they keep getting vetoed.

Dave/Lorna...fabulous pictures and good to hear you had such a fun and safe trip. It's so great to be able to spend time like that taking it easy and enjoying all the beautiful scenery our country has to offer. We're in the planning stages of a month long (possibly a bit longer) fall trip starting in a couple of weeks. Heading up toward Jamie's part of the country (western Michigan and the UP), westward as far as Montana and back through South Dakota.

Glad your Vegas performed so well and would love to meet back up with you guys at Topsail sometimes.

Larry

We were already planning on coming back through Hill City, SD so this seals it. Will look into staying at the Rafter J Bar Ranch also.

A couple pix of our campsite there. Site 151 was a great spot. It’s about 10 miles from Rushmore and 7 from Crazy Horse. 10 miles from Custer and 3 from Hill City where you can take the 1880 train through the mountains to Keystone and back.
