Recommendations for stops on I10
Hey folks - we're planning a trip to Houston from Ocala Florida and looking for some guidance on a couple of overnight RV stops off I10. Anybody done this trip before and got any favorite sites? We have a class C 32ft Four winds with a flat tow so would prefer a pull through.

We are on our way back to Lakeland from Galveston. On the way out we stopped at Twin Lakes RV resort in Defuniak Springs for 3 nights. It's a gorgeous place between 2 lakes. We are stopping again on the way back for 3 nights also. We are sitting right now in Denham Springs at the Baton Rouge KOA. Really nice place. If you don't mind high prices and a bit of I10 noice, we spent 2 nights at the French Quarter RV resort just 1 block from the New Orleans French Quarter. It's a 10 minute easy walk to Bourbon St and great restaurants. It's $110 a night but worth it for the location. We've also stayed at many places along the coast on the panhandle.

I can recommend Cajun RV Park in Biloxi, and Camp Gulf in Destin (although Camp Gulf is right on the beach and not on I-10). I also like the French Quarter RV Park mentioned by a previous poster. In Baton Rouge, we like to stay at Farr Park because it’s right in BR. The KOA mentioned previously is in Denham Springs, east of Baton Rouge, but is probably more convenient if you’re just passing through. But, be aware that the KOA is actually on I-12 which bypasses New Orleans. It’s the most direct route to get to Florida, but not good if you want to also visit N.O.

Blackwater River State Park, about 20 mi. NE of Pensecola. Very nice FL state park. Only 33 RV sites with elec & water but not busy during weekdays. Most sites are back-ins, gravel and very level. $17. per night for FL residents with senior discount. Stayed there a couple weeks ago...Great park. Scenic canoeing and kyaking on Blackwater River, which boarders this park.

If you have military privileges I highy recommend the CGs at NAS Pensacola, FL and the Navy Contruction Battalion Center, Gulfport, MS. Both are within easy walking distance to military musuems.
Have a safe trip.

We did that route a few years ago.
Stopped for teh night at the Lake Charles Cracker Barrel (which was good), and the Lake Charles Cracker Barrel (no problems but didn't strike me as well)
Someone on one of teh forums back then mentioned a reast area that was a good stopover for an overnight

I remember seeing it as we drove past & it seemed good
I don't think they allow overnights there, but this rest area in MS has really great pullouts and would be awesome for an extended break I think

In FL, we liked Big Lagoon SP, and Falling Waters SP. And an old favorite of ours is Suwannee River SP
