We stayed at Narrows Too. Some noise from the airport, but all the amenities and some shoreline sites. Pretty centrally located. I'd stay again.

We stayed at Timberland in Ellsworth for a few days, and would stay there again. It made a good central base for the places we wanted to explore, Bar Harbor and Acadia NP.

+1 for Narrows Too: We also stayed there and yes the campground is on the landing/takeoff pattern for the airport. Other than that it was a nice campground.

I was there last July. Didn't have a reservation anywhere when I rolled into town. Ended up at Bar Harbor Campground, right across from Pirates Cove Adventure golf. It's pretty big, inexpensive, and I'd say they probably always have availability (no need for reservation). Nice people.

Not far from downtown, I rode my motorcycle in every day took like 10-15 minutes.
