Best rv gps

Hi there, I still am pondering what GPS to purchase that is most useful, doesn't need games and such. I want it for RV travel and route info, road heights etc. I'm looking at the Garmin 770 LMT. Does anyone have this one or what has worked for you? Thanks in advance! I'm considering buying it from Amazon.

Garmin 770 is a very good choice, think about giving your business to a local store not amazon, just saying .

Get it...period. Been an avid fan of Everything GPS for years including many years of marine use. The 770 is as specific to RV travel as a GPS/Chart Plotter is to marine navigation. The "voice command" feature is great and "she" easily understands you. I recently bought it on Amazon and used it for our 11 day wedding trek through the Carolina's. No issues, large screen is great and detail of exits and routes is better than any Garmin of past. /As in all GPS's...and this sounds weird...but you must have a good idea of your route before you just sit back and let them tell you what to do.

Regarding "local store" advice. Garmin's dealer pricing is the same to all dealers. Amazon doesn't make them...they are sourced from independent dealers. Get the best price you can!!

I've always had good luck with Garmin products, and plan on adding the RV-770 to our dashboard as well...

I recently purchased the RV770 for our unit, and I'm loving it. The big display is very clear, the exits are well marked in advance, and the we've found the routing to be spot on for our unit. I think you will like it.

Excellent choice, I have one and love it! Be sure to download the Garmin updater from Garmin and run the updates on your unit at least twice a year.

While we don't have a 770, we do use Garmin. I always build the route using Mapsource, review it in Google Earth for those zig zags through small towns.
I use the 2495 LMT and DW has a 550 on her side with paper map back ups.

Some people use the rand macnaley truckers map as their paper back up.

My Garmin sits nicely on a bean bag mount above the radio in my Vegas. With the bean bag mount, it can be moved to any car easily.

Garmin's LMT means lifetime maps, and you can update the software before you hit the road.

Guess I'm cheap. I use the map function on my I phone. I mounted it above the left window about 2 ft above the rear view mirror and since the battery gets drained in about 3 hours, use the little chargers and rubber band them to the back of the phone in the mount. Got about 3 of them so I have enough power for all day driving. With the audio in tight places, it helps but the "recalculating" is a bummer. Especially if you somehow miss the turn (cause you are driving an RV and other drivers won't let you get in their lane in front or back of them) and the next place to turn around an RV (being large as it is), is 30 miles away. Oh yeah, sometimes the 'paved road' turns into a 'dirt road' in a mile and that's when I find an exit ASAP. I'll park it on a dirt campground but driving on a dirt road I don't know? Not gonna happen.

The best feature of the 770 is the fact that it's programmable to your specific RV and will help avoid low clearances, toll roads, etc. All of the "icons" are RV specific and have up to date data. I use the maps in my phone all the time but not as a GPS. I look up aerial views of fuel stops, ingress and layouts of campgrounds, traffic ahead as we travel..lots of things. But the 770 is the King of the Dash.

We bought a Garmin 770 NA LTM about a month ago, for all the reasons stated by others. Haven't had it on the road yet but hoping to correct that starting this coming Monday. I like the idea of lifetime map updates available at no cost. I have this feature for my TomTom GPS in my truck and its nice to be able to update it about every 6 months. Don't think you'll go wrong with a Garmin 770. I highly recommend the bean bag mount; works great!

Take the time to walk through all the menus and set it up out front. There's a lengthy video on YouTube a guy did that walks you through his experience. I'm not a fan of "lengthy" YouTube videos but this one was an exception. I'll find it and post the link.
