Heading South to Florida in Feb.

Hello everyone, Wife and I are planning on heading south in February with a couple of stops to visit Family and Friends. Leaving Edwardsville Illinois, first stop will be Decatur Tn. then on down to Atlanta for a couple of nights and then down to Cape C. to visit Long time Navy friend. Is it hard to find available camping that time of year?

Hi!!

Normally yes, it's the height of snowbird season. Last April, I secured the "last" open spot at the RV resort I am presently at in Punta Gorda - southwest Florida. However, there have been 3 seasonal cancellations so far this fall (due to illness and other reasons), so there may be spots open for you.

Call ahead NOW to make sure you have a spot when you get here. And safe travels!!

Find something now and book it. February is high bird season and the campgrounds want premium rates so good luck.

Yes, hard to find a campsite along the coast or towards the south end of Florida. Once you have spent a February in Florida, you'll understand why the sno birds come back every winter. We did that and ended up moving here!
