Day 10.

After taking a bus ride then subway we arrived in DC

Started with the Bible Museum. Spent 1-1/2 going through then ate lunch at their restaurant. We could have stayed a couple more hours but we had to make our Capital Building tour

Capital Building is beautiful inside. Paintings, statues, and the building itself is amazing

Our founding father's sure knew what they were doing

We then walked to the Library of Congress. Pretty interesting place but we could only stay 30 minutes

Last but not least we tour the Bureau of Printing and Engraving. No pic allowed. The tour took us through the machines printing money. We saw mainly $5 bills being made. Probably over several million worth on plallets. Wanted to take a pallet home but they said no. So I bought a sheet if 8 $2 bills

Time for dinner and planning tomorrows day

I’m surprised there is a bible museum in DC. It doesn’t seem like a particularly bible friendly town! But now I have another reason to go there. Have a great visit.

Awesome pictures Jerry. Thanks. I was there with my dad and uncle's WWII Honor Flight almost five years ago. Quite a humbling experience.

Day 11.

White House tour. Pics above. Self guided tour. We started in the East wing, west up stairs to the red, green, and blue rooms, dining room. Secret service guys were friendly and willing to answer questions. All these rooms are used by the Trumps when they're in town and tours are canceled

We got into town early and while walking to the WH we came upon food vendors. I guess they are there every Friday. I got BBQ sliders, chicken, pork, and briskets. Also a port baby back rib. Wow it was good. pizza, ice cream and milk shacks were had by all

After the WH we went to the Holocaust Museum. All I can say is the world CAN never forget this. Jaime and family left before us to eat dinner. Maria and I stayed another 1-1/2 hours. We watched every video and viewed every display

That was it for the day. Again exhausted from all the walking

Jerry

I have a pizza oven at home and make my own dough. Had to take the pizza oven pic. Mine is nothing like this oneClick image for larger version

Day 12

Ford Theatre, National Archives, and Natural History Museum

All three were very interesting but honestly museums aren't my thing. Maria really liked it so that's all that matters and we saw the Hope Diamond. Now Maria wants her 4 caret

Day 13. 8hour tour

Drove by several sites, which was OK because we already went to them. First stop was ferry ride up the Potomac river to Georgetown. From there it was the Air Force monument then Arlington Cemetery. Of course this was the high light of the day

We hit a couple more places but the rain started which killed everyone's enthusiasm

We leave tomorrow for Gettysburg

Jerry,
When in Gettysburg, check out the Dobbin House restaurant. I like to eat in the downstairs tavern. French onion soup is great. Lots of history in this building.

Loving the pics and trip journal, Jerry. We really enjoyed our time in DC years ago when we took our (now adult) sons there. You're missing our cool weather back here in SoCal -- it was a balmy 103 here in Berdoo today!

Continued safe travels!
