Lots to do here in the Bluegrass State. Two things that you should experience - thoroughbred horses and fine Kentucky bourbon.
To check out the horses visit the Kentucky Horse Park (with campground). A great experience. Here is link to their site:

Also checkout the Kentucky Derby Museum in Louisville. Their website:

On to the bourbon. Even if you don't imbibe, lots to see and experience on the Bourbon Trail. BUT DO NOT attempt to drive your coach to the distilleries. Most are in very rural settings and hazardous with a coach. I will include a link to the Bourbon Trail website - we have been to most. Strongly recommend seeing Makers Mark, Woodford and Wild Turkey tours. The distilleries have become so popular you will probably need reservations to access the tours. Here is the link:

We are retired US Army and have lived in a number of states. Since retiring we have visited all 50 states. Without equivocation springtime in Kentucky is one of the most beautiful landscapes - alive with color. The remainder of the year it is great but doesn't pop quite as much.
Visit and enjoy the horses and the bourbon whiskey. Like Tom T Hall sang about Faster Horses, Older Whisky and Younger Woman (in our case beautiful fillies). :-)
