Smile Nascar

So we are new to camping but are season ticket holders for Phoenix Raceway and this March we camped at the track it was a blast. So I was wondering about other tracks. Would love to hear about other tracks and camping there.

We took the RV 'near' Michigan International Speedway for a race couple of years ago (had been going for about 10 years before my move to FL).
They have camping at the track - but week minimum and my work schedule never allowed for that... didn't feel like paying for a week just to be there a couple of days.
Pulled the toad to CG about 3 miles away - and drove in to meet friends, tailgate, and watch race...

May have to try taking the RV to Daytona now...

We've been LVMS, Sonoma and Phoenix. Sonoma has the biggest party atmosphere and allows off road vehicles. The 50 acres campground is as entertaining as the race.

Other tracks

Talladega has several campgrounds at and near the track. Probably have to dry camp unless you make your reservations way early.

We've camped at Martinsville, Charlotte, and North Wilkesboro (when it was a NASCAR track). It's been a few years since we camped at the tracks, but it was fun to be there. Martinsville is the most family friendly track of the three.

Darlington track has a couple of nice campgrounds, mostly dry camping, very few hook-ups.

Talladega?

Heading to Talladega in the fall and would love any suggestions people have. We're staying in Frontrunners 1 and planning to arrive Thursday am. Wondering about services to empty tanks and common rules around running generators (minus quiet time midnight - 6am). Thanks in advance.

We camped at Talladega for the first time last October. Going again this year! We arrive Thursday evening, with a group of other RVers. The whole event is an experience. We stay in the Legends Lane campground. It's mostly quiet there compared to some others. If you're not into partying I would stay out of the infield campground.

Saturday night they have concerts on the infield and it's worth a walk around to people watch and witness the antics. For the most part everyone behaves and is courteous of others.

There's a truck that drives around to empty your tanks for a small fee. We did that once over the weekend. There's also a truck selling ice. You can take a small cooler into the track to bring your own food and beverages. Somewhere on the website it tells you the size limit. Nothing on wheels.

Since we have a new RV this year and some time, we're making it a two week trip. After Talladega we're heading to north Georgia for a few days, then Pigeon Forge, TN. It'll be our first long roadtrip, even thought we've been RVers for years. Really looking forward to it.

Thanks BradnKaren, appreciate the info.

Anyone know the approximate cost for emptying the tanks at Talladega? And when to expect them to come around during the day?

Again, appreciate any insight anyone has for Talladega. Thanks all.

I believe we paid $20 for the tank pump. Watch them, though. They broke our connection and we had to buy a new one. Fortunately Camping World has a tent with supplies on site.

The number for the pumping service is in the flyer that came in the ticket and camping packet that you should have received. You call and they tell you when they can come by. Other good info in there also, as well as the website.

The water pressure, at Legends Lane anyway, was pretty high. We backed off the flow a bit at the faucet, but this year we plan to bring a regulator.

As a follow up, we paid $25 that included (2) black and (2) grey tanks. They made their rounds each morning and afternoon, except for the Monday departure morning.

We stayed in Frontrunners 1 and had a great time. Quiet (enough) at night and walking distance to everything. I highly recommend experiencing Talladega from the Infield!

It was a great weekend and a great race! Infield at night is an experience for sure.

We paid $25 for the tank emptying also. Not a bad deal for 4 tanks. They were popular guys.

I can't wait for our first chance to camp at a track.
Are there any up here in the Northeast (South as far as Tennessee...), that anyone would recommend for a "newbie" at NASCAR camping?

Northeast Nascar

I have re-booked at NHMS, Pocano and Watkins Glen for 2018 already - plan on adding both Dover races in 2018 as well. Book early for your best selection of campsites.
