Online search engines for camper locations??
What are some good search engines online to help find some good RV/Camper park locations? I’ve been trying to use Google Earth, but it only seems to want to find the big RV parks, but it won’t find any of the smaller sites set up for camper trailers.
Any info would be great!

Allstays once you get past the clunky interface.
RV Trip Wizard if you don't mind paying the annual cost.
These will get you in the right ball park but I always double check RV Park Reviews to see what fellow vagabonds have to say.

I use the "Allstays" app on my iPhone. It has private, local, country, state and national campgrounds with their websites and telephone numbers as well as good info on each camp. It also works as you drive and with its map feature, you can look at the road ahead as you drive and pick one 100 miles ahead and make a reservation over the phone.
Checking the reviews on RV Park reviews is a god idea. We do that too.

When we're on the road we usually keep a tablet or smartphone running iExit constantly. It shows your position on the map in real time and shows you what is at the next exit (also allows searching up coming exits for services). We've been very happy with it (just a happy user).
Of course it only works when you are on an interstate...if you are retired and take the roads less traveled it is of no use for you LOL (and I'm envious ).

We prefer the less traveled ways also. But after the third time between KC and Denver, anything but interstate is cruel and unusual punishment.

Too funny - all the truth comes out!! We've made more trips across country in our SUV and now 2 in our coach. After following the pony express route across Kansas/Nebraska and taking the less traveled route to Mt Rushmore, we've paid our dues in the mid-west. Ohio's most common attraction - construction barrels - have pretty well ruined even the interstates. Gotta work fairly hard to find much interesting to stop for.
I have to constantly remind myself and DW of our mantra "the journey is the destination" or I'd never make it.
:-)

My comments refer to many of the mid-west states. Even with that, love the vagabond life.

after so many miles in our two years, I've developed several go-to methods:
-PassportAmerica app, parks available in the general area we are heading toward
1/2 price per night, with some limitations
-GoodSam app, tho I use this much less often than google maps, it gives another general idea of any other discounted parks near our destination,
and they also show other 'non' goodsam parks, campgrounds, etc
-GoogleMaps overhead view SEARCH
... use 'RV park', or 'Campground', or similar search term for the general area you are heading for - after you see some points, you can also zoom in to reveal even more points that may not show up in broader overhead views
... also, try 'city park', or 'county park' or similar because many cities and counties have parks and campgrounds that you would otherwise never find, and many times they are excellent facilities with nice pricing

Ha ! and we think I70 is cruel punishment ! We use I70 to get past Topeka, as we live outside KC ... once past Topeka we drop south and go through Great Bend, Garden City and on...however, that is because we AVOID Denver and take the Southern Route and go through Pueblo, Canyon City, Salida, etc.
We are all creatures of habit and must do what works best ! As long as we all have a safe, fun trip .. that is what counts.
rvparksreviews and good sam (if you are a member) work for us. iiexit is good for when a person is on the interestate
Also, if you stop at the welcome centers in each state, you can pickup a booklet which shows campgrounds.
Florida and Colorado have very good campground information, to name 2.

Michigan's campground "booklet" is also online at (clickable, searchable): MARVAC Michigan RV and Campgrounds. You can view the virtual booklet here Campground booklet

RV Park Search Apps
I use Roverpass to find parks, and the previously mentioned apps to get ratings. Usually make reservations through the park.
