Pigeon Forge Camping
Has anyone stayed at the pigeon forge jellystone campground, and if so, how did you like it? Any comments are greatly appreciated.

Never stayed there but did drive through it as I always try to check out CG's while traveling. Depends on the site you get. Park is very nice but a lot of the sites are very close together....like trailers at a trailer park...all in a row. There are a few that are spacious. Check the website CG map and Google Earth view them. For a night or two, no issues...for a few nights or a week+, I would negotiate a premium site with more space. Park is immaculate with lots of activities for kids. Prices when I went through were upper $40's to upper $50's.

Pegion Forge Camping
We have had great stays at Riverside Campground on Boyd's Creek Rd. It's quiet and not too far from Pegion Forge and there are lots of things to do. Not too far from I-40.
Let us know how you stay goes.

We've stayed at the KOA there. The sites are packed tight, but it's a short walk through Patriot Park to a Moonshine distillery and restaurant with fried chicken. Lot's of "Beware of Bears" signs scattered throughout the campground.... apparently they are attracted to the scent of fried foods wafting off of tipsy tourists.

Bears really are a problem around campgrounds in the Great Smoky Mountains. Campers and hikers are advised to wear little noisy bells on their clothing to give advanced warning to any bears that might be close by so you don't take them by surprise. It is also advised to carry "Pepper Spray" in case of an encounter.
Be on the watch for fresh bear activity and be able to notice the difference between black bear feces and grizzly bear feces. Black bear feces is smaller and contains lots of berries and squirrel fur. Grizzly bear feces has little bells in it and smells like pepper.

Just now saw your post. That's funny! I'm going to borrow that and tell it to the other people in our vacation group. Thanks.

Darn, those little bells are hard to digest I guess! Remember, you don't have to outrun the bear, only the person next to you!*♂️
