San Antonio / Corpus Christi winter stays

Rather than Florida we wanted a different winter destination in our RV. Any thoughts?

Winter weather is great in both places but they are large cities. NAS Corpus has a decent campground on the base but there are to many campgrounds to list in San Antonio and the surrounding area.

fort sam houston in San Antonio is great, its large sites and concrete

traffic in San Antonio is well.....ALOT

corpus christi is nice. the campground at NAS corpus is pretty big and has lots of spots, many pull through and back in, some are concrete and others are hard packed gravel and grass. Most of the big pull through s are hard packed gravel/sand/grass so you need to put wide blocks under the jacks to ensure the rig is stable. its windy so awnings being out it limited
many things to see, USS lexington, Texas state aquarium etc.

Be glad to welcome you as one on the 34 million tourist that visit the Greater San Antonio, Texas each year. Last year we had only one night in November below freezing (26 degrees). Usually we have three to four night below freezing.

The biggest thing is they really welcome Winter Texans. Always something going on, not really a tourist trap like other cities in our great state

Any concerns with all the illegal immigration concerns in this area? This so-called manufactured crisis is ready to pop. It appears to be an issue that can’t be ignored for snow birds.

Once they get on this side of the river, they try to get as far away as possible. We’ve never had a problem. Most crossings are north west of Mission..
I stay at the Palmdale RV resort near LosFresnos. It’s a small park, 200 sites. It is gated

Texas has always had loads of illegals so this is nothing new. Other than the burden to the taxpayer they are no trouble.
