Summer Adventure

We're getting the final pieces in place for our annual summer getaway. Going to be out for about two months traveling up the California coast. First stop will be Golden Shores in Long Beach for a few days and then on to Santa Barbara, Pismo Beach, Monterey, San Francisco and Petaluma. We'll spend a week or two at each stop and sample the local adventures and food. After Petaluma we'll see, we may head further North or decide we've had enough and work our way home. I'll include pictures along the way to show our progress and latest activities. Click image for larger version

You will love the Monterey Bay area-we lived there for 15 years!

2018 Hurricane 35M. We usually take off to the coast for the summer, gets warm here.

LONG BEACH Day 2.
Down to Seal Beach, Main Street and DW favorite shopping.

Next, IKEA, didn't think I'd get out of there for free but I did

Sea Empress for Dim Sum lunch, always excellent

Alpine Village for an amazing array of German and Eastern European sausage and other foods that are hard to find close to home.

Marine animal rescue in San Pedro, one of our most does.

Was born in LB and graduated from St. Anthony’s high in 1970. Lots of changes since then.

You can go to Catalina for free on your birthday. Been there many times. Stayed on the island several times at various hotels. You need to go out to Huntington Beach to the pier while here. Have fun. Sorry about the higher fuels charges here in California.

I've been to Catalina many times too, back in the day we had a couple of boats and would spend a few days tied up in Avalon. Good times. I've lived in California most of my life and fuel has always been higher than most anywhere else

We took our trip up California into Portland last October - November.

I recommend:

Check out Flying Flags RV Park in Buelton next to Solvang. It's where the movie Sideways was filmed.

Be cautious picking your stay in the Bay Area. A lot of the RV parks are situated in areas overrun with transients and drug users.

In Petaluma be sure to go check out the Francis Ford Coppola Vineyard. I like to call it "Hogswarts for Winos"

If you go further north along 101 be sure you have enough gas to PASS Garberville. It's filled with more hippie beggars than the Bay Area. We couldn't figure out why until we watched "Murder Mountain" on Netflix. All the illegal marijuana growers have been hiding up there.

We're staying at the Elks Lodge in Santa Barbara, La Sage Rivera in Pismo Beach, KOA in Monterey Bay area, San Francisco RV Resort in Pacifica and Elks lodge in Petaluma. Haven't made up our minds after Petaluma. Made most of our reservations in January. We've done this trip just about every summer, just a few more stops this year. Thanks for your recommendations though.

I vote your best time will be in Monterey bay area.

Could be true, haven't been to Monterey in years. We're in Santa Barbara for five days enjoying the local vibe. This is their annual fiesta days, lots of festivities ending Sunday.

We are heading out from southern Ca to Salt Lake City on 08/11/19 returning back home on 08/18/19. Taking our 2018 Thor Siesta 24SS on yet another trip. Seems like every few weeks we are going somewhere this summer. It is great being retired. We love our motor home and continue to make improvements on it. In total since April 2019 this year we will have logged over 10,000 miles on it once we return from Salt Lake City Utah.

We've considered that coach for a future purchase but right now we're in a Hurricane 35M and usually are out for about 6 weeks at a time. Not sure how DW would cope with the loss of space on an extended trip.
