Terrible roads

I-81 southbound from Wilkes-Barre to Harrisburg has some pretty bad sections for an interstate. Have travelled it many times in an SUV and motorhomes and its especially bad in a motorhome. US 15 is a better option just slower

But the funny thing is: they're always working on that section of road...
What about that two-lane: just West of 81... (Rte 11?)
I've been told that it's a viable alternative...

Bob: I forgot you are in New York and I am only an hour from the border and hour and a bit from Watertown. Have done a lot of touring through NY state from the Penn border and east to Maine, mostly on the state roads and avoid
Interstates and expressways whenever I can
