SE Michigan hovers around freezing a lot as example... Part of the reason my RV shakes to pieces on those roads.

Our roads in the Northeast and across NY are horrible as well. What I’ve come to realize tho is if you travel these roads in a regular passenger vehicle they seem marginally bad but in an RV you find they are Monstrously bad. So really the suspension system in the passenger vehicle masks the condition or the poor RV suspension amplifies it. Which is it? I imagine it’s a little bit of both. The bottom line the highway superintendents doesn’t case the roads in RVs so they really have no clue.
Then is the rest stop areas all putting angled pump stations in but RVs are too long to use these stations. We can only use the straight pull thru ones. They can get more pumps in for the same space for passenger cars but no consideration for the RV / campers as they are too long to fit in the angled pumps.

Cars should be eligible for Purple Hearts: for surviving the roads in the Northeast...

I'll swap roads with all of you. DOT just finished putting 18 patches in the 1.5 mile road by house here Pamlico County. And they still missed several potholes. Oh, the patches were patches of previously patched potholes.

What?? 18 patches??? You lucky so-and-so. Wait, what’s a patch? Tell me and I’ll tell my DOT.

A patch is an attempt to keep the highway workers busy: while not really accomplishing anything at all worthwhile...

Try to stay off I-70 through eastern Missouri and western Ohio. You'll break something for sure!

I-70 is pretty ugly!
We came up ou of Springfield on 66, and then took 70 all the way to Pennsylvania.

We used to live in Maryland. When we would see road crews working in the summer, I was always convinced that they were installing a new crop of potholes for the upcoming winter.

I have to disagree, although Mi is terrible, we found Utah worse, especially I 15 in the SLC area.
But we really noticed they are patches on patches in every state. The smaller tires on a Vegas/ Axis make it even worse.

[QUOTEHope they get around to I-75 pretty soon... ][/QUOTE] I've been traveling to lower Michigan for close to 50 years, and I-75 has had construction on it every time I've been there!

So you say I 10 in the south is terrible, I see 90 parallels it, is that a better option?

With all of this talk about lousy roads: does anybody in here ever find a GOOD one?

I-10 in Louisiana is bad. No, 90 it is full of traffic lights.

One decent section is I-12 it connects with I-10 on both sides of New Orleans, it's like a shortcut/bypass for NOLA.

I-10 west of Houston to El Paso is good.

The best part is the 18 mile long Atchafalaya Basin Bridge, fair road except the speed limit is lower.

LA US-90 goes through New Orleans. US-190 parallels I-10/12 east of Baton Rouge. US-190 is 100 times worse than I-12 with I-12 being definitely the best highway in LA. Baton Rouge hasn't paved a highway in the city since Huey P Long was governor. West of Baton Rouge I-10 is bad but US-90 is scenic, slow and not bad at 15 mph.
