Vogel State Park - North Georgia

Next week my wife and I are going to Vogel State Park in the North Georgia mountains. Has anyone visited there or have any information?

Very nice and clean park. Not sure what all goes on during this season but the lake is gorgeous with a waterfall. If going North on 19, allow a little time in Dahlonega if going that way. The winding roads are well maintained but you'll burn through lots of fuel. Overhead clearances are not a problem at all on most of the roads and there's tons of pull-offs for breaks and scenic views. Watch out for the entitled "crotch rockets" on their wannabe motorcycles. For some reason they take to the mountains with no interest in the environment...just how fast they can get through it and they will meet you head on...in your lane. I don't yield for idiots. Enjoy the ride!!

Watch out for the Bears. We had two encounters on the trail to the lake from the camping area. Beautiful park. Lived in the area for four years.

Pull those slides in when not there and overnight in case that freezing rain arrives when you won't notice it. It'll wreak havoc on your slide seals and mess with the slides' ability to easily extend and or retract - placing undue stress on the motors. You'll want them in or you could find yourself stuck defrosting them or waiting for a natural defrost event.

Thanks to everyone for their comments. It did rain e day but no freezing rain so that was good. We did a few hikes and saw no bears so that was good also.
