Weather Apps

What weather app(s) do you use and why? I have always had The Weather Channel app, but the constant ads and videos and slow loading drive me nuts. When I am trying to plan things on my route a couple days down the road I just want weather info...not all their other stuff.

Weather Underground works great for me. I also have marine navigation app that include weather radar.

Weather Underground?!? Dear God...that won't link to to some Bill Ayers site will it? I don't need that kind of drama in my life.

I've got Intellicast, Accuweather, and The Weather Channel...
I poll all three, and then take a look outside for myself!

Radarnow gives you real time radar. They have forecasts but I don't know where they come from. The radar has saved us MANY times on our last cross country trip.
We were able to dodge storm cells all across LA, GA, Ms and AR and OK.
We took some very small roads but were seldom hit headbon during that early May 2019 set of storms.
We dodged snow storms from Salt Lake to the grand canyon with it recently. Changing roads, speeding up, slowing down, hunkering down for an hour.... We missed all the mess at the end of May 2019.

I have a 10 "screen devoted to it at home and in the rv and it lives on my phone when out on a 4x4 escapade.

For the house we have an acurite 6in1(?) weatherstation tied into weather underground. I get notice, worldwide, of foul weather right happening at my doorstep. I can look at the weather cam, and I can kill house power if the storm is lightning heavy.

Has a picture of a Radarnow screen.

National Fire Situational Awareness. It's an app/web page.
It's not only weather that will jack you up on a trip.
I have a long story of a 3 hour trip turning into a 12 hour trip due to fire detours....

I also vote for WEATHERUNDERGROUND (along with the NOAA radar sites).

I find WEATHERUNDERGROUND is one of the more accurate apps, and isnt too heavy on ads

The Weather Underground?
Are you sure that you trust these kids to be forecasting your weather?

WeatherBug is my go to weather app. Free and it provides a clean and easy display.

Just remember: they can still call themselves "Meteorologists"; if they're wrong half of the time...

OOPS I got my weather apps confused...

I use WEATHERBUG (guess that way I don't have to worry about dissidents or Bob Dylan songs)

I also like the interface and ease of navigation (except for the radar map always starting in Africa then zooming to the USA)

Mo mike my weatherbug radar always starts with the current location displayed at the top.

If you’re an IPhone person, go to device location settings and confirm location services. This might help.

You can also use the National Weather Service site. The address is: www.weather.gov
Then enter the location you want check either with the city name or enter the airport ID nearest you with a “K” in front of it such as, KLAX, KIAH, KPIT.....
If you’re familiar with weather lingo, go to the “Forecast Discussion” about halfway down on the right side for a description.

Another Weather Underground. I use that and the Storm Radar app on Apple.
