Question West Virginia Turnpike

It's been decades since I drove through WV. In a couple weeks we will be leaving Pittsburgh headed home. I planned the route through WV so my wife can see the beauty there...she's never been there.

I see we will be on the turnpike pretty much until we get to VA. Looking at Google Maps I am not seeing toll booths. What is there method for toll collection? Is it like Dallas and they mail you a bill? Or will my FL turnpike work with their EZ Pass?

Not sure about one pass so won’t answer that.

Grandkids in WV so there quite often but memory not as good. If u leave Charleston u should have total of 3 toll booths I think.
If u leave PA AND COME DOWN 19 u will have one at entrance from 19 to turnpike and one headed towards VA.

I THINK this is Correct. Thx Dennis.

No, your Florida EZ Pass won't work in WV. It's been a couple of years since we ran that route, and at that time they had toll booths.

Some of the turnpikes in Florida have no booths, so if you don't have EZ Pass, they send you a bill in the mail. I would be surprised if WV has gone to that yet.

If you have time, the New River Gorge Bridge is a nice stop, the highest and longest arch bridge in the world! It's not far off that road.

New River Gorge Bridge is worth a look and right on 19 if u go that way. it is a short cut between 79 and 64 w/o going into Charleston. If u have a toad it's a nice trip to the bottom to the river and look up at it and out the other side.

Bridge Day, I think always 3rd Saturday in October, they shut it down and let base jumpers go off. It is something to see!!! Thx, Dennis.

There are 3 mainline tollbooths and one at North Beckley for Rt 19. W Va uses EZ Pass, but I don't know how it is set up.

If you use route 19, which is the best way heading south, as Mitch said, you you will have a toll when you get on at Beckley. I think it was about a 80 cents for our 31 foot ACE. If you have time, stop at the next exit (Welcome Center) and visit Tamarack. Outstanding collection of West Virginia/Appalachian arts and crafts. A few miles down the road will be another toll, I think that one is about $3.50. That’s all there are if you’re coming down route 19. We live in WV and appreciate your patronage. Honk as you pass by the I-79 US route 50 interchange at mm 119. Drive safe.

WV Turnpike has 3 toll plazas which all accept cash or EZPass (No credit/debitcards).

For motorhomes the fee is $2.50 at each plaza or $1.63 with EZPass.

If you plan on much travel in the North East, just get an EZPass. Super easy!

I don't know if they charge by the axle or vehicle. Our rig is is $3.50 since we have a toad. We don't have a tag.

Except you can add Central Florida's CFX E-Pass roads to that list come September 1st. No information on whether the E-Pass transponders will work in the EZPass tolls.

I have a SunPass for FL. I know EZ-Pass works there also and SunPass works on their EZ-Pass roads. I just can't tell if it would work in WV.

Doesn't really matter...

Looks like I have two toll stops in WV for a total of $3.30, so I'm not even gonna worry about it.
