1st time oil change

I have a class A 30 foot Thor. Ford v10. I live in Florida and have some questions on oil change. What type of oil is recommended, how many quarts of oil, and which oil filter and where is the best place to purchase it?
Are they any other tips that may be help full?

It is all in your Ford owners manual. The oil viscosity is listed on the oil filler cap (5W-20 or 5W-30) semi-synthetic Motorcraft - 7 qt with filter. The filter recommended is Motorcraft FL820

I use Mobil-1 full synthetic, and a NAPA filter, take your ford filter number with you and they will cross reference it for you. 7 quarts of oil, 30 wt

I also use full synthetic, in the viscosity listed in the owner's manual. I use it because it's supposed to last longer between changes, and since the MH is really used for so few miles i think it makes no sense at all to change based on miles

Just did mine last weekend. The filter and plug are very easy to reach and the thing sits high enough so that I don't need a pit or ramps. I do the genny at the same time, non synthetic is the viscosity per the manual.

Mine is a 5/8 inch wrench I believe it is.

Most any Ford dealer service dept. should be able to handle your routine service...and they'll know what type oil, etc., you'll need to keep your warranty in effect. Mine, in Deland, FL, can't get my Axis inside their building but they drain and change the oil outside. Only limitation is rainy days. And, they are about half the cost than having it done at RV dealer.

1st time oil change

If you have any inclination to change it yourself you’ll find it to be very easy. Access is good due to the high ground clearance and the filter is right next to the sump. It’s even vertical with the open end up to make it extra easy. One caution...some genius engineer at Ford put the oil drain right where the oil will drain on the cross member and run all over everything. It’s easy enough to work around with a funnel or (better!) replace the drain plug with a fumoto valve. Using a short piece of plastic hose you can drain the oil with no tools, no mess and without even getting your hands dirty.

Here is a link to the Fumoto website.

Fumoto® USA | Quick and Easy Engine Oil Drain Valves

There is a video on the website. You remove the drain plug from the oil pan and install the valve in it's place. When you want to change the oil you can connect a length of hose to the valve and drain directly into your used oil container. No drip pan or tools needed. Nice and easy, I have installed them on all my vehicles for the past couple of years.
