2015 Four Winds 23U Dinette Pedestal

I just bought this RV and cannot figure out how to remove the dinette pedestal. Normally, they just lift up out of the base, but this one won't budge. I would appreciate any help.

Thank you for the response. I've put a lot of pressure on it to get it out, but I don't want to force it before I know what I'm doing.

There is a black button on the base of the pedestal and originally I thought this was a release for the pedestal, but it did not budge when I tried to press it. I talked to Thor and they said this button is the release for the pedestal, so I guess I'll try again to get it to press in.

From your description, sounds like you have one of those pedestals that taper at the ends?

I had one of those on one of my boats, and it was pretty difficult to take off. I kept a strap-wrench on board to remove the pedestal, as sometmies just twisting it a bit helps.

Of course, if you have a latch mechanism, all you will do with a stap-wrench is probably break something.

I removed the pedestal baseplate from the floor to gain access to the release button. The button fell out when I turned the plate over. The button is light plastic and has teeth that lock the pedestal to keep it from turning. While pressing the button, you turn the pedestal 1/4 turn counterclockwise and this allows it to be lifted out.

Reinserting the pedestal and turning it clockwise locks it into place. I suspect when the pedestal was inserted at the factory, the assembly line worker applied too much pressure and put the release button in a bind.

Thanks for all the replies.
