2018 Thor Freedom Elite fresh water tank filling by itself

Went on my last trip of the season this weekend in my 2018 Thor Freedom Elite 23H, which we just purchased ~3 months ago. I left home with a completely empty fresh water tank. When I went out this morning to unhook and head home, water was running out of the freshwater tank, meaning it filled itself from the city water connection somehow? Anybody know what's up with this and how I fix it? Thanks!

Welcome to the Forum!
There's a one-way check-valve in there; that should keep that from happening.
It probably just has some "crud" in it, and is blocked open.

Thanks Bob! I'm a newbie, can you tell me where that valve is and how I can check it? Thanks again!

I'm not familiar with your RV...
But if you take a look at your water tank, and follow the line coming out of it: that's where it'll be.
(Somebody else in here will know the exact locaiton... )
Good luck!

The valve is integrated in the water pump. On the suction side of the pump is a strainer: isolate it, remove the bowl cover and clean the plastic bits out of the strainer. After reassembling run your water pump for a few minutes to flush the crap out of the pump that is causing it to backfill your tank.

This may need to be done again as more plastic shavings work their way out of the fresh water tank.,

Wow! Exactly the same thing happened to us on our last outing in November in our 2017 Freedom Elite 26HE. I knew the answer would be somewhere in this forum, and the first Search brought it right up.
Thank-you to all contributors for being so helpful.

You would get more help if you started a new thread asking your question.

Since you were connected to the city water at your campground, if your motor home has the Kankleak water valve, it may not have been completely switched from tank fill to city water. Those Kankleak water valves have a couple of "O" ring washers inside them and they sometimes rip or fold over when you turn them from one water source to another. They have a history of failures. You used to be able to replace that valve and the problem was fixed. They are no longer being made forcing you to replace the entire system with the new all brass valve system. You might be able to find a replacement valve on ebay. I have it happen a couple out times while out camping.
