Changed from Analog to Digital Thermostat

My DW and I changed out our thermostat today.

First, we watched a youtube video and saw someone replace our exact unit with the new digital model that we purchased. (Comfort HC)

We were a bit scared because the old unit was attached by a module and the new install required cutting the module off and twisting the wires together.

To our surprise, someone had replaced the thermostat before and the wires had been cut and were twisted together with orange wire caps.

The colors did not match exactly, so I took plenty of pictures with my iPhone. The pictures turned out to be a lifesaver. The DW could not agree on where the colors went. Glad I took pictures, unfortunately she was correct on most of the colors and the AC worked the first time.

Good to hear. We just got back from out first trip and I am thinking of swapping to a digital thermostat. Too big a dead band between start and stop with the analog.

We did the digital thermostat upgrade last year and it has been great. Took about 15 minutes to do even with the wires not exactly being what we expected.

Great. I was looking for a thermostat that would work for mine. Most I saw were set up for heat pump, which mine is not. I found this one, which I think is compatible.

That's the one! Ours is in black to match the décor.

Also switched to digital thermostat. Easy installing and works much better than old analog. [emoji1303]

I switched from the Mach analog OEM to a Mach digital, but got tired of having to turn on a light or hunt up a flashlight to see settings a night. So I swapped again to a battery operated Honeywell which has a back light that turns on when you push any of the buttons. Its been installed for a year and we have yet to have to change batteries. The Honeywell doesn't handle two speed fans, but you can install your own switch. I found a black rocker switch that I put below the thermostat

Link to the Love Your RV page that I found showing me how to do it.

Digital thermostats run your AC and heating in a much narrower temperature band then even the best analog. I am surprised analog thermostats are even still available.

Picked up a new digital thrermostat (coleman/Mach) from ebay for like $73.00 and installed. I agree it works a hell of alot better that the analog one. Keeps the tempature inside the coach more even.
