5 Star tune

At risk of revisiting an old subject I wanted to share my recent experience with the 5 Star Tune in my 2015 F53 chassis 32ft Class A. In a word - wow! Those of you familiar with my posts know that I am not normally given to re-engineering my machines. But my previous coach was newer and had the 6 speed transmission and when I bought my current one I had some trouble adjusting to the behavior of the 5 speed. I wanted to try the 5 Star before an upcoming 6 week trip to the northwest primarily because of the altered shift patterns. I didn’t think I needed more power and was skeptical that there would be any in any case. (Ford has darn good engineers and I’m always skeptical that smaller, aftermarket companies think they can do better...). I still don’t know if the power and torque are altered but I can tell you that the driving dynamics are hugely improved! Installation was stone cold simple and in my opinion the whole experience was well worth the rather substantial $450 cost. Don’t know what the effect would be on the 6 speed models but, in my case it’s a clear win. Only about 225 miles so far so no mileage conclusions yet but it’s not going to matter to me even if it’s down some (there’s no such thing as a free lunch!) And it sure seems as if the engine is not working so hard so I’d not expect any decrease to be substantial. Cool!

I just ordered one for my 2018 Outlaw 29H. They had $50 off for Memorial Day.

I noticed the over-revving and shifting to be off as many have reported. Based on the reviews from everyone who have installed the tune, I figured it was worth the money.

So far this forum has not let me down. I upgraded the suspension based on feedback on this forum and was not disappointed so I'm looking forward to seeing the difference the tune will make.

So far we are happy with our 5-Star tune.
Admittedly, I only went on 2 excursions before the tune, not sure how different it is now, but I like what it does do, performance wise & downhill down shifting hold back, yes!
Like Judge said about this Forum, kudos folks, and the front Sumosprings made a world of difference so far too!

I had a 5-Star tune on our F-350 for a few years before we traded the truck & 5er in on the Axis. That tune made the 350 feel like a tiny car--I think my mpg went down simply because the truck was more fun to drive

It made a huge difference when pulling the 5er around.

Jamie-So why haven't you put a 5-Star on your Vegas? Just wondering...

Good question: On the F-350 I waited until the warranty expired before putting it on.

On the Axis...? So far I've been happy with its performance but I'd like to 5-Star it--its on the mod list just haven't got to it. (The mod list for the F-350 wasn't nearly as long as for the Axis and it keeps getting longer ! LOL.)
