You need to determine the "Delta T" or the difference in the temperature of the air being drawn into the return compared to the temperature of the air coming out the vent/register. This should be measured with a probe type thermometer rather than a point and shoot.
If the difference is 15 - 20 degrees the stem is working fine and it is only a matter of time to cool down the coach. If the difference is less than 15 degrees something is wrong with the AC unit.
