Ace door strut unscrewed again...help

The day I bought our 2016 Ace, the strut came loose on the step end...the salesman came out and somehow screwed it back on. The first time I took it in for warranty work, I was told that they discovered something with the strut and fixed it...Yea. Today it is unscrewed again. I tried to insert it into the ball/threaded part, but it does not turn and the ball/thread part attached to the inside does not seem to snap off. I don't want to break anything. Anyone know the simple fix? Thanks.

The ball socket should have a metal band/tension clip that you can pry/slide off center. This allows the ball socket to come off, screw back togther, then re-attach socket and replace clip.

I had that issue with my Challenger a couple of weeks ago. The problem is if you don't disconnect one end at the ball socket when you try screwing it back together one end will tighten while the other end loosens. To fix the problem use a screwdriver to loosen the spring clip and the remove the ball socket from one end. Tighten both ends and then put the ball socket back on the stud and re position the spring clip.

For me it was easier to disconnect the end at the coach rather than at the door.

Thank you all for your good information

I got it off and screwed back on. Thank you very much. I do wonder why it keeps unscrewing though...I could not turn the rod with my fingers... Again thank you!

Mine kept coming loose also. I put a lock washer on the cylinder end thread and tightened it. It hasn't come loose since.
