On ours, Mercedes recommends 15,000 miles or one year. The thing to remember is the kind of driving you are doing. With any diesel, any prolonged idle times, will tend to contaminate the oil with fuel, just the nature of the beast. Most diesel engine manufactures recommend that idle time does not exceed 5% of total run time. More than that, oil change frequency is reduced. Running in cold weather reduces that frequency interval, as does running a lot in stop and go traffic. So the reality is that manufactures recommended oil change interval should be taken as a guide, and reflects driving in or near perfect conditions, rather then in the real world where most of us live, work and play.
