Affordable Thermal Imager

Had quite the monsoon storm yesterday on the hill west of Albuquerque! Having a new Chateau 25V, it was a good opportunity to check for insidious roof, window and slideout leaks with my $150 SEEK thermal camera (for iOS and Android phones) I got at Best Buy a couple years ago. The 204x156 pixel resolution is really surprising on a unit this cheap!

Thermal imagers are great for looking for electrical hot spots (or sneaky pets), seeing where the most heat is getting in and out, and looking for water leaks, which are easily seen as irregular dark patches. My sheet got wet on a couple three places when rain blew in a window I forgot to close, showing what a water leak might look like. I can think of worse ways to spend money on an RV than by buying an inexpensive thermal imager!

I just completed my Level 1 thermography class for work, we do all our own electrical panel IR scans and the #1 issue is...loose wires.
I have shot my breaker panel in my Thor RV last time i brought it to work and come across a few loose connections. We like you said also use them to find leaks within walls and light ballast burning up. The HP sometimes uses them at truck stops to catch buring breaks on the Big rigs.. Many uses.
