Another newbie question

Going to dewinterize rv, I had CW winterize in the fall. We looked at the valves around hot water heater (see photo) and found valves in normal mode , is this typical? Click image for larger version

Any thoughts if I should have CW dewinterize just in case problems with their procedures?
Thanks
Rick

I typically leave the valves in "normal" operation setting once I've winterized--it makes dewinterizing it that much easier in the spring as I don't have to mess with the valves.

Dewinterizing is a pretty easy procedure: just pump water through everything watching to make sure no pink comes out. I usually do the following:
  • Hook up city water
  • Leave the plug off the water heater and run a little water until no pink comes out the plug
  • Put plug in water heater (skip above and this one if the plug is already in)
  • Use outside shower: Run cold until no pink, run hot until no pink (you'll have to wait until the water heater fills so this will take a while)--I use the outside shower because I can let that run as long as I want without filling my waste tanks
  • Turn off outside shower
  • Run through each faucet running both hot/cold until no pink
  • Also run toilet
  • Disconnect city water
  • Put some water in the tank
  • Run faucet closest to the tank to flush that
Obviously the above doesn't include sanitizing the system. That may look like a lot of steps but it isn't that difficult, just want to get everything covered.

One additional step to Jamie's list, if it applies. Run the ice maker through a few cycles to get rid of the pink stuff. Last year this took me about 5 or 7 cycles of cubes.

I also open up low points and flush antifreeze from them. I had a unit that wasn't winterized correct by an rv dealer once after I paid for the service. End result busted water heater. I showed the receipt and statement proving payment. They replaced at no charge.

Personal preference - but I leave the valves in the winterize position - and do the initial flush without changing them... avoids dumping a line full of antifreeze into the hot water heater that I then need to drain...
Once flushed - I return water heater valves to normal - and flush the water heater thru the drain plug... close it up and run some hot water normally.
