Anybody know anything about Platinum Protection?

Hi all,

We're getting ready to pick up our new class A next week and the dealer is trying to talk us into this Platinum Protection Systems stuff. It's supposed to be some kind of teflon based polymer that is applied to the coach to prevent fading over time. It's supposed to take the place of waxing.

We are getting a Challenger 37LX with full body paint.

Sounds like someone might be trying to sell us some snake oil... your thoughts?

Thanks in advance. Oh by the way it costs around $2500 to apply and lasts 5 years.

Sounds like good old fashioned snake oil to me! When they say guaranteed for five years what does that mean? What's guaranteed, that after five years you'll figure out it was a waste of money? I think I'd pass on that one.

Don't know anything about the product, but I'm sure it's like the extended warranty they push so hard at the sale, the salesman/dealership get a very healthy commission for selling it.

Not sure what the dealer wants to charge you but I just spent about 5 hours applying 303 UV Protectant to our 37TB. After reading a lot of inputs from fellow RVers, I am confident that it's time well spent. The 303 spray bottle costs about $18 on Amazon. Not sure how or what the dealer applied, hope this helps.

I never go for that pitch, waste of $$'s. Have it washed often, and detailed and waxed annually.

One more thing. If the cost is added to your financing you'll be paying for it more than once!

Yeah, we figured it was something we probably didn't need/want. Thanks for the quick responses. Just wanted to make sure..

Snake Oil I had that put in my jeep a waste. Now I wash often and hand wax two ore three times a year! Much better.
