Auto Level
New Thor Windsport 29M. The automatic levelers would not come down due to a “low voltage” reading. We had just driven a couple hundred miles and I would think the batteries would have been charged. When I plugged into electricity, the levelers went down. I would appreciate any thoughts on why there would be a “low voltage” reading on the control panel.

Could be another "OEM battiery" Issue. The OEM batteries are know to fail within the first year. Perhaps yours was drained at the dealership one too many times and now they wont recover? My was only like 11 mo old when they failed.
Just a tought.

As mentioned earlier, I had trouble with mine when first purchased because the stock batteries had been ruined by cheap quality and the dealer running them dead over and over again. I replaced them with Interstates and the problem pretty much went away, however I have learned that the engine needs to run for a short time before leveling or I still get the low voltage. The levelers require significant current and they run a voltage check first to save from burning out the motors from low current.

I get the low voltage warning all the time. I'm pretty sure the house batteries in my brand new coach are about shot. Plan on replacing the 2 12 volt batteries with 2 6 volt like I had in my last coach.

low voltage really doesnt mean anything, really - either let your engine run until it goes away, or press Manual mode and manually level it yourself - the error will not prohibit that... the arrows lit up tell you which side or end is low, press and hold that arrow until the legs touch, raise the coach, and stops automatically when it’s level on that side, then run down the opposite set of legs, until they touch and just start to raise that side/end...

Turner...I think it was you that woke me up to manual level...it's a dream and we used it this weekend on passenger side. So much easier on the frame and leveling system! I don't know if I'll ever use auto again. It's a circus ride!!

I was manually leveling mine as well, because of the "Circus ride" you describe. I finally looked up how to set the "zero point". It was easy to do and my auto level works SO much better. Here is the link to do it: https://www.lci1.com/assets/content/...heets/0317.pdf

I will try that and thanks! Last time I did auto, it was in a driveway at a house in Foley Beach...pretty level ground. Somehow, after the Disney ride, the front tires ended up nearly 10" off the ground and the steps were a short jump to get inside. I set her down and manually leveled. Most campgrounds are pretty level so manual will work for me. If it's that uneven, I'll move on.

Thanks for posting this link....I need to calibrate my levelers & forgot the steps to do it. Much appreciated.

No problem, guys. After my wife used auto once and the system extended the rear jacks full out, then blew the "flag" breaker, I knew I needed to sort things out.

Mine will show low battery voltage and the dealer said you have to have the engine running to use the auto level and when running slides in or out, and that's what I have been doing and no more low voltage issues.

Most coaches have an interlock that prevents electric slide movement when the engine is running. Are your slides hydraulic?

I would imagine most if not all slides and awnings are interlocked to make it impossible to operate them while the is engine ON. The extra power would be nice but what if someone pushes the wrong button going down the road? Uh oh.

The Aria's require the motor running in order to set the jacks or move the slides, The Palazzo required the motor running to set the jacks but engine must be off to move slides. I think they have found that low voltage is burning up slide motors and jack motors and leaving them running boost voltage and everything runs better
Happy Camping!

We've had that discussion on here before: It seems that all the Schwintek slides are interlocked with the engine (e.g. can't operate it when the engine is running) but other slide units (namely hydraulic ones) you need the engine running.
