Winter battery care question

I have a 2016 Thor Ace, with 2 12 v batteries, i plan on hooking up a battery tender trickle charger to the batteries for the winter and leaving the "use-store" switch off. Is that preferable to hooking up a 110v 15a regular extension cord to the 30a shore power connection and using the onboard converter ? Appreciate your opinions.

I've always used the onboard converter with an extension cord. Only one RV boiled the batteries and a new converter solved that issue. No problems in many decades of the various RVs we've had.

If water levels constantly need refill it indicates bad battery or converter is out of adjustment. Basically just check the water level every few months to get a feel for how much is lost over time. Never let levels reach the top of the plates and you should be fine for the normal life of the batteries.

Thank you, i assume you used a 30a to 110 outlet converter, and left the use switch on?

Yes... and a 15A cord will work fine for anything that uses under 15A
