I'm assuming it's a manual valve, and that it's not that easy to see or you would have seen it from start.

I think a long pipe/line (with minimal pitch) from tank to driver's side dump valve may be more susceptible to get plugged with solids if left open at tank. Heavier solids would tend to migrate downstream, which could plug the line.
I'm 67 years old (with a little bit of a balance problem) so i have to get down on one knee to reach underneath to get to the valve. For a younger person, they could probably just bend over and reach under the coach. But you have to know where it is, it can't be seen by just standing on that side of coach.

If a Vegas or Axis 25.3 owner could send me a picture of the valve on the passenger's side, I'll add it to the comments I posted in the latest revision of the Vegas/Axis Owners' I compiled.

Send the picture to bevedfelker@live.com.

Thanks. I had seen a second valve while crawling under a used Hurricane 30Q (with bathroom on passenger side) a while back but didn't know it was meant to be operated each time the black tank was dumped. That's good information to know.

Preferring to follow the KISS principle whenever possible, everything else being equal, I'd want the bathroom on the driver side.

With more motorhomes going to full-wall slides on driver side -- often leaving toilet on passenger side -- this second dump valve will be more common. Don't particularly like that when it's not necessary.

Dumb question from a newbie - what do the various numbers 24.1, 25.3, etc, refer to? When I saw them elsewhere, I thought they were length - in feet and inches, or maybe tenths of a foot - but here it sounds more like versions, like computer software - version # 25, and the third sub-version of that.. Or is it something ELSE entirely?

We have a 2016 Thor Siesta, 24SA floor layout. How would I know that number - if there is one for this RV.

Thanks
Dan

No questions are dumb... ask away...

It is a length... though I would be surprised if a 25.3 is really exactly 25.3 feet... (Axis/Vegas owners can comment)...

My 32A Hurricane is just under 33 feet...
I expect you Siesta 24SA is just over 24 feet long.

Those are just model numbers for the different floorplans. They are tangentially related to the units length.

For the Axis and Vegas units:
  • 24.1 is the 1st model in the 24 ft range
  • 24.2 is the 2nd model in 24 ft range
  • 24.3 is the 3rd model etc.
  • 25.1 is the 1st model in 25 ft range
  • 25.2 is the 2nd model in 25 ft range
  • 25.3...etc.

Thor's other lines use letters that may mean other things.
Note that all of the Siesta's model numbers start with 24S and only differ by the last letter: A, R, S, T, V (I suspect 24S means 24 ft Sprinter).
  • A was the first
  • R has a Rear bedroom slide
  • S has a side bedroom slide
  • T has twin beds in the rear
  • V -- can't explain V! LOL

Interesting - 2 slightly different answers - but basically it is length, with the decimal indicating differences between similar units.

Thanks, gmc and JamieGeek!

Well, I suppose the model number might be very roughly related to RV length, but my 2015 Windsport 27K is nearly 30 feet long. Thor rounded-up big on that one!

And the 24.1 is actually 25'6" and the 25.1 is 26'6" according to Thor. I measured my 2016 Axis at 25' and I'm sticking to it.

And my Hurricane 29D is 30.8' long plus the additional size of the ladder, which makes it about 32' long.
I have no idea why it is called a 29D!

As explained to me some time back, the length implied in the model number is the maximum length "INSIDE" the motorhome. This number is always shorter than the overall exterior length -- normally by a couple of feet or slightly more. Obviously there is rounding off of dimensions.

My 28A has an overall length of about 31'. I interpret the 28 to be the length of the Living space, not the chassis.

So the numbers like 24.1 and 25.4 are real model numbers - like my 24SA is a model? I did not realize that - some other discussion thread I was reading seemed to use them solely as lengths - or *I* assumed they were just lengths - which is what led me to think the ".n" part was a shorthand for inches, or tenths of a foot... Well, I think we have beaten THIS topic to death. Thanks for responding to my question.

That would be similar /the same as my 29D.
They seem not even to agree within their own company on their nomenclature and what number to give to each individual brands unit.

Our 27K is 28 ft 9 in plus the ladder sticks out about 7-8 in.

Our new 2017 24SS Siesta has the double tank valve also. One valve under the bathroom which is on the curb side, and one at the flush station on the drivers side. We also have the slide out bed and skinny corner bathroom. Floor plan is great when you need a slide for the dinette as well as a slide for a bed.
